Céline's Blues Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:00 PM Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:00 PM I'm gonna ask you a serious question that is as I think important at this time of Céline's career. She is currently working on her next English album and is considering again the newest and trendies producers out there. One could ask oneself at once whether she is again selling her soul to the commercial Devil... I don't know actually what to think about it yet. I would have to hear the songs first to judge as in most cases the VERY FIRST songs a hot producer makes for Céline are always his finest ones. This is where he gives his best to deliver a song that truly is worth of Céline's name and voice. BUT there is also a strong possibility that the new songs will be extremely mediocre and one thing she doesn't need in her English repertoire is to expand her already madly broad mediocrity factor... I would REALLY hate for her to waste yet another opportunity. This is actually the point where old songs come in. They could fill in the quality gap on an album and give Céline an almost sure quality and raise the bar. The second option to choose to cover a song may seem a little too safe but considering Céline's choices are unpredictible and lately tend to be less than inspired I would think she should go for it and look out for some true underground American classics to cover for her next album. Elaine Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:08 PM Posted March 16, 2007 at 02:08 PM Yeah, for sure! I mean, why not cover?? Some forgotten songs in her voice would be a tremendous success!! Without covers or not, I really think her English album will be great! Quote http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1352/opo3.jpg

CSCfan Posted March 16, 2007 at 05:21 PM Posted March 16, 2007 at 05:21 PM I don't really get the link between your story about new producers/writers etc. and "to cover" Seb..? Anyway, about the cover thing.. maybe 1 song, but it has to be a good/worthy one.. but no more. Davey84 Posted March 16, 2007 at 07:00 PM Posted March 16, 2007 at 07:00 PM well I'm not all that against covers! Some of her best songs/ biggest hits aren't her own (IYAMT/IACBTMN, TPOL, RDMH etc) as long as Céline has something with the song... and make it her own! but I don't want more then 2 covers on the next album!! blue.grave Posted March 17, 2007 at 09:55 AM Posted March 17, 2007 at 09:55 AM Celine should go out there with a bunch of new songs and some good cover songs. And the one thing I like about Celine is her unpredictability with her pick. I never know what that woman is going to dish out. Like many of you, I will keep my fingers crossed, and hope for the best in Celine's choices. Quote For the joy of life, My passion for video gaming, and my Love for Celine Dion.

cannonball Posted March 18, 2007 at 06:34 AM Posted March 18, 2007 at 06:34 AM Celine really can't "sell her soul to the commercial devil". She's already done that. If there was every any doubt, the Chrystler logo in the cd insert is proof positive. Celine is a product, and that's part of her success. I like that she's working with new producers and putting out some more modern upbeat albums like One Heart and A New Day. If she's going to go the covers route, I'd love to see her do an album of some standards. Every does them now, and they're big sellers. Her taken Bewitched is gorgeous, and I'd love to see her bust out some smoldering old jazz torch songs. krazy_kool_dude Posted March 27, 2007 at 02:51 PM Posted March 27, 2007 at 02:51 PM I don't want any covers on the album (although i'm sure we're gonna get some) but i would love to see Celine performing this on her tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFbsZu7ZN7A It's taken from Les Miserables Quote http://img345.imageshack.us/img345/4136/siggyju5.jpg
LVCeline Posted March 27, 2007 at 04:47 PM Posted March 27, 2007 at 04:47 PM I'd love Celine to do an album of standards, like Summertime, and Unchained Meloday type of songs. I hope she will later on in her career, but right now I don't think it would be a wise decision. I love when she does cover songs, and am fine with one or two here and there until we get an album. I don't think Céline was EVER compared to any of the previous artists of her covers simply because she blows them all away I'd like some covers there are a zillion of FANTASTIC songs out there, for which I would kill to hear them sung by Céline Quote http://www.celinedion.nl/pics/cindy/bannerza.jpg"They call my home the land of snow, Canadian cold front movin' in"
