Love, Posted March 4, 2007 at 09:43 AM Posted March 4, 2007 at 09:43 AM (edited) As you probably already know, I LOVE SO MANY THINGS! Anyway, here's something else I want to share with you: My Passion for the Plant World! I have been quite passionate about the world of horticulture for over a decade now. Landscape design, gardening, and plants have always fascinated me. I have read tons of books, taken courses, and splurged on so many plants throughout these years. I think I have a green thumb or two, because I have brought nurtured lifeless seeds until they sprout, grow, bear fruits and blooms, and created seeds. Anyway, I've started a project two years ago. I have a small goldfish pond, and I wanted the area around it to be an Italian garden, filled with an Olive Tree, surrounded by a mini field of lavenders. I did just that. Then, I ended up thinking up of an idea of creating a Garden of Roses with roses that were named in honor of people who have impacted our world. So, I began this garden. And recently, I have decided to name it as "The Rose Garden of Fame," which will be my collection of these roses named in honor of distinguished individuals. I began the garden two years ago with the purchase of a Red Rose named in honor of the French Fashion Designer (and one of my favorites) The Late-Christian Dior. The Christian Dior Rose A recent addition to the garden was purchased today. It was love at first sight. The Liv Tyler Rose. Source: http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebrity/Liv...+rose-4704.htmlLiv Tyler rose Liv Tyler has had a rose named after her.The unique flower has been created by French cosmetics giants Givenchy who are using the scent of the flower in their new fragrance Very Irresistible Givenchy Sensual Eau de Parfum. Liv, who has a six-month old son, Milo, with husband Royston Langdon, is thrilled with the rose and admits she is desperate for the company to let them plant some in her garden. The actress, who is the advertising face of Givenchy, said: "It's this big, beautiful pink rose. Maybe I can get them to give me a bush so I can plant it in my garden".......... Celine Dion RoseI have been waiting ever since 2001 for the opportunity to purchase The Celine Dion Rose. It was bred and sold in an exclusive nursery in Canada called J.C. Bakker. I was in contact with them off-season two years ago. Unfortunately, we have lost touch, and I was too busy that I totally forgot to get in touch with them when the season for "bareroot" roses came around. During the winter season, roses are sold in bareroot, and could be shipped. However, I did not know if the USDA would even allow me to have a rose shipped from Canada to America. So, I have been waiting for a local nursery to begin carrying this special rose celebrating our favorite singer, Celine. So, anyway, a few minutes ago, I discovered a nursery that is only 1 hour and a half's distance from my house, that supposedly (based on online information) has the CELINE DION ROSE! So, tomorrow, I will give them a call in the morning. And we will see how it goes! Near-Future Additions to this Collection Will Be:Diana, Princess of Wales™ Hybrid Tea Rose LeAnn Rimes Hybrid Tea Rose Amy Grant Rose I have considered Barbra Streisand, Caesar Chavez, Bing Crosby, Betty White, Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Garland, John F. Kennedy... but I'm going to take my time with this garden Edited March 4, 2007 at 10:01 AM by Love, Quote

Love, Posted March 5, 2007 at 03:17 AM Author Posted March 5, 2007 at 03:17 AM Like I mentioned previously, I placed an order on the Celine Dion rose! I should be picking it up later this week! Love you just are a man of love and romance nice to see nice roses tooo<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Thanks Marie ahh, I love roses! Diana's rose is gorgeous! And all the others are beautiful as well, but Céline's looks kind of sad compared to them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it's also the way they photographed the Celine roses. Celine has exquisite taste, and there must be a reason why she allowed this rose to be named after her. Many times, the person is given an option with more than one rose. Anyway, I hope that the actual Celine Dion rose in my garden will be more splended in real life! Quote
Salla Posted March 5, 2007 at 08:59 AM Posted March 5, 2007 at 08:59 AM Yeah, I thought it might be just the way they took the picture. You need to take pics and show us what they actually look like! Quote
Céline's Blues Posted March 5, 2007 at 10:34 AM Posted March 5, 2007 at 10:34 AM Céline's rose is the most original of them all and that's why I like it. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
Bellamy Posted March 5, 2007 at 11:04 AM Posted March 5, 2007 at 11:04 AM I think rose can be raised by seed? Maybe I can get some free Celine Dion Rose seed from you, if you have raised it successfully. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Love, Posted March 5, 2007 at 04:13 PM Author Posted March 5, 2007 at 04:13 PM I think rose can be raised by seed? Maybe I can get some free Celine Dion Rose seed from you, if you have raised it successfully. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Roses can be planted by seed but could take at least ten years to flower. And since this is a hybrid rose (a blend of two or more parent plants), there's a big possibility you won't even get the same type of rose, and even the chance of not getting any flowers. Can you imagine waiting for ten years and getting nothing? Anyway, new roses are grown by a process called grafting. You can find out more about it here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grafting There's also a process called cutting, which you cut a proper portion of the plant, you dip it in a rooting hormone process, you plant it, and you monitor its growth. There's information on cutting and a few other methods similar to cutting and grafting on here:http://www.rooting-hormones.com/rose.htm Who wants a stem? Quote

Aye yai yai! I'm pretty excited, although I won't see the plant until this Wednesday! Quote

Love, Posted March 11, 2007 at 06:47 PM Author Posted March 11, 2007 at 06:47 PM Thank you. It's funny because I've already paid for my Celine Dion Rose and I've put it on hold over there at the nursery, and I've still yet to pick it up. I am looking at this upcoming Wednesday as my opportunity date . Quote

Love, Posted March 23, 2007 at 12:42 AM Author Posted March 23, 2007 at 12:42 AM The garden is coming along well. I try to take a few minutes before bedtime to add to the sketches of the groundplan for the rennovation of this garden. I am happy that my backyard does not have any deciduous trees, so I don't have to worry about the falling leaves during Autumn. So, I'm thinking of doing a garden with lots of natural rocks, and stones, and forming mini-mounds, like little hills, and having Irish Mosses (I love Ireland, btw). And I am going to put in a bigger pond for my goldfish, under the Olive Tree. I have two fish in the current pond and one that I named Celine, and I will tell you a story about her later; but she's been with me for over six years now. As for the roses, as I had mentioned in the other subforum, The Celine Dion rose has arrived and is still in its mosspot. There are already spikes of bloom and the flowers are ready to come out soon. So I will take pictures of that and share them with you. thats really good hope it all goes well Thank you very much! Quote
