Elaine Posted February 20, 2007 at 02:05 AM Posted February 20, 2007 at 02:05 AM I got interested in watching this movie because of Celine's Ma nouvelle France... I didn't really know what to expect from it and then I was really surprised! What a great movie!!! Such a great story, such great characters and such great actors!!! I'm not a person who usually cries in movies, but this one really touched me, and I couldn't stop crying for about a minute or so... What did you guys think about it?? Mozinha Posted February 20, 2007 at 02:07 AM Posted February 20, 2007 at 02:07 AM I liked it. It was very fine. I was only disappointed because I watched the english version of the movie instead of the english one. Mozinha Posted February 20, 2007 at 09:03 PM Posted February 20, 2007 at 09:03 PM Sorry I didn't make myself clear. There was an english spoken version of the movie and a french spoken version. The version I rented was the english one. Elaine Posted February 20, 2007 at 09:10 PM Author Posted February 20, 2007 at 09:10 PM That's ok! I really thought you had done some confusion like that! I also watched the English version I wish I had watched a french version... Quote http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1352/opo3.jpg
Ronny83 Posted February 20, 2007 at 09:51 PM Posted February 20, 2007 at 09:51 PM I bought the Italian DVD and I have to say that it is a very good movie. I love the character of Marie-Loup. Quote The Celine Dion Italian fanbase - CelineDionItalia.com

Teodora Posted March 6, 2007 at 04:17 PM Posted March 6, 2007 at 04:17 PM It was in the cinemas here. I watched it. It's a nice movie, nice story, but way to sad. No wonder Celine cried It's not a great movie, but it's fine. The best thing about it is Celine's song Quote
Davey84 Posted April 22, 2007 at 09:20 PM Posted April 22, 2007 at 09:20 PM I've seen the movie today!! but frankly... I thought it would be better! This is also maybe because I saw the english version! The story is a little bit weak... and the begining is a bit slow! It also have some few strange points... like how François was so quickly in Switserland... and well... I didn't like the ending it was too sad!! and all because that stupid priest lied about the letter François wrote! it was very cool thought to hear Ma Nouvelle France throughout the movie! and to hear Céline at the end credits! I can't believe they actually shot this film in french AND english!! what a lot of work! and TEXT! Davey84 Posted April 23, 2007 at 08:20 AM Posted April 23, 2007 at 08:20 AM 145 minutes in a few sentences! François’ father died, so he had to go back to Quebec city (?) there he meet Marie-Loup after a while they fall in love. But because of the possible war with England François has to go to France. Because of a dirty trick of the priest Blondeau Marie-Loup doesn’t go with him… after a while when England has taken Quebec, Marie-Loup thinks François must be dead, and in a drunken state she agree’s to marry Xavier, François’ evil friend. BUT François returns and she want’s to divorce Xavier… well what happens after that…you should see for youself! Jacqui Posted July 23, 2008 at 02:49 AM Posted July 23, 2008 at 02:49 AM I know this thread is old but OMG I just watched it...sooooo sad! I need a hug now. Some stuff I didn't understand though: I watched the English version, but throughout there were times where there were subtitles, especially when the native people were talking, the "savages" or whatever they called them....but what language were they speaking? Was that some kind fo French? Cuz if it is, I'm screwed with learning French...I didn't understand a word of it! And....SPOILER! --Click here to view-- | --Cliquez ici pour voir--How did France kill her step father? What did she do to him? Please tell me cuz I'm gonna be wondering all day otherwise lol! Quote

I just tried to look for it at amazon, priceminister, play etc. but nothing there either. I only found the soundtrack. I didn't know there was an English version. Maybe if enough of us emailed them or something they would find a way to get it so we could rent it. Jacqui Posted December 15, 2008 at 05:07 AM Posted December 15, 2008 at 05:07 AM Ahhhh! I think I just found the problem. They re-named it for the English version on DVD, so it's now called "Battle of the Brave"...hence why nobody could find it! It's on NetFlix here... http://www.netflix.com/Search?v1=Battle%20...arch_submit.y=0 You can also buy it on amazon.com I think. Quote

Jacqui Posted December 15, 2008 at 10:53 AM Posted December 15, 2008 at 10:53 AM Thanks Bellamy. Yeah it is a very lame title- misleading (it makes it sound like it's a war film or something!), and confusing for everyone who was looking for Nouvelle France! I loved the movie though- in both languages. They were kind of the same other than the words. LOL. Quote

I finally found it on Priceminister, and it was sent to me from Switzerland. It can only be watched in French and it has no subtitles at all, so it was a little demanding to watch it, but I managed. I think it was nice, not the best I've seen, but good. And it's about Québec so that's important as well!
