zanif Posted February 18, 2007 at 08:15 AM Posted February 18, 2007 at 08:15 AM Celine was interviewed by Newsweek Magazine recently. I'm sorry if this has been posted. Feb. 26, 2007 issue - Q&A: CELINE DION She's leaving Las Vegas to sing at the Oscars, but Dion took time to chat with Ramin Setoodeh. You've been to the Oscars more often than Leonardo DiCaprio. Oh, I'm not sure about that. I've been to the Oscars five times. Remember when you wore a big white hat? It was definitely very different. For me, it was glamorous. A lot of people hated it. So no hats this year? Of course not. This year, my husband, Rene, is going to wear the white hat. Vegas must be exhausting. The first year, I did 200 shows, five nights a week. I couldn't talk to my husband or son. Two days of taking a break vocally. How do you do that? I don't talk at all. My husband and I communicate on the phone without me talking. [she starts tapping the phone.] Did you hear that? How many hits mean different things. One means yes, two means no. But I'm not going to tell you all our secret things. What time do you get off of work? I finish the show at 10:30 at night. By the time I take a shower, I have my little snack, I do my drive back home, I never arrive before midnight. I love to sleep late. I can go to bed at 5 a.m. and wake up at 2 p.m. When do you see Rene-Charles? Actually, my 6-year-old son has the same hours as us. Isn't that amazing? But doesn't he go to school? He's home-schooled. His teacher comes at 3:30 in the afternoon. Does he sing, too? He loves heavy rock and the Doors. It's the first song he hummed to me. [she sings: "Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?"] I think it comes from the videogames. The Wii is the hottest thing on our TV right now. How did you get a Nintendo Wii? My best friend in the world, Robin, waited in line at 4:30 in the morning. Since you're already awake at 4:30 in the morning, you could've just gone yourself. I know, but I didn't even see it coming. Teodora Posted February 18, 2007 at 07:17 PM Posted February 18, 2007 at 07:17 PM (edited) It's such a cute interview! You wouldn't imagine Celine knowing what Wii was She's learning pleanty new stuff with RC. As far as I know, Robin has a few kids of her own, so I think that's why she was in line at 4:30. She speaks so rarely of her non music related friends...About being silent for the days off: I think we have to face it. This is so much a part of Celine, she'll never give it up for good. And it's good, it keeps her voice in shape and there's no one suffering from it. I'm sure she feels good about doing that again, now that RC is old enough to understand why mommy has to be silent sometimes and he's OK with it. I just love Celine more and more. She's reaching a new kind of maturity, she's expressing herself freely, not worring so much about what people think. I love that! Edited February 18, 2007 at 07:19 PM by Teodora Quote

This why she she doesn't care about the BS people give her anymore. But a mom if anyone has a problem with RC, they have a problem with her. I don't know any mother that wouldn't backup her child when something comes up. And if I could recall that Celine is very superstitious and still do all those little weird things like press thumbs with some of the band members, do her funny dance with the backup singers and etc. That is why she doesn't speak for the days she is not performing besides resting her voice. stevethefan Posted February 19, 2007 at 11:04 PM Posted February 19, 2007 at 11:04 PM Nice little interview. I like the part where she was saying that RC sings songs by the Doors and that they use the Wii. I'm still surprised that she still has to continue to be silent on her days off. I hope it's not all the time. I wonder what she does on longer breaks, like this month when she has alot of time off. I guess she gets a little vacation from being silent for her voice during the longer breaks. Quote
