MichiG. Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:13 PM Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:13 PM Hi folks, I just stumbled over this QA while looking for Belinda's new album "Viola" and to my surprise I read that not only Gloria did a demo of this song, but also Belinda. Due to record company policy it never made it on the album: "Frederico asks:My question has to do with the songs the music companies pick as singles versus the songs you as a singer would pick instead. Which songs that were never released as singles you would have chosen for public release and why? the only time i have had the experience where the record company and management were TOO involved with choosing material is "a woman and a man". i had to sing some songs that i would never have chosen for myself for political reasons and didn't listen to my heart and say no. i really regret this. i would never in a million years work like this again. a good story with regards to that album, is that i demo'd "falling into you", which sounded amazing. for reasons that i don't understand ( though i do have suspicions), it was rejected. i was heartbroken as i loved the song. about 3 or 4 months later i was at a gas station in france and they had music playing. the song i heard was familiar and i couldn't place it. then i realized it was celine dion singing the song. i had such a sick feeling in my stomach. she just popped her vocal on the track and it became a world wide hit. i have to say though, she did a beautiful job singing it." source: http://www.belinda-carlisle.com/bc/content...hp?articleID=41 Quote ~*~ life IS beautiful ~*~

Esty Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:23 PM Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:23 PM Thank you! That was interesting to read!I wonder how Belinda's version would have sounded like... Her voice is so much different than Celine's...However, I didn't know Gloria did a demo for FIY too... Quote
Bellamy Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:43 PM Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:43 PM This is a cover song anyway. So I don't think it has anything to do with Celine sang it. I guess Belinda's record company think the song doesn't fit her album. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!
Davey84 Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:46 PM Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:46 PM well it's a cover anyway The song was destined for Céline! Her version is and it isn't the first time she'd done it... she also recorded Think Twice, just before some american group wanted to record it! But I don't think Céline does it on purpose! Céline's Blues Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:48 PM Posted January 30, 2007 at 05:48 PM Pleasee, Belinda. Check you facts!!! Céline COVERED it, too. So you could have done it as well but it was rejected prolly with GOOD reasons. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

krazy_kool_dude Posted January 31, 2007 at 04:18 PM Posted January 31, 2007 at 04:18 PM this is like the whole It's All Coming Back To Me Now situation all over again when MeatLoaf kept on going she nicked the song and it was originally intended to be a duet! Funny, i don't recall a duet on the actual original version: pandora's box - just one lead vocalist! Quote http://img345.imageshack.us/img345/4136/siggyju5.jpg
Igor Posted January 31, 2007 at 07:17 PM Posted January 31, 2007 at 07:17 PM (edited) Belinda Carlisle new french album VOILA just f****** fantastic!!! Yes album will be released in one week only but i have CD already!!! Here my review http://www.celinedionforum.com/index.php?s...ndpost&p=469385 BTW, Falling Into You could work perfect for Belinda's voice too, its my opinion. She did fantastic job of these amamzng french classics. And i wish she could cover some Celine classic, because all Celine french songs already classic. Too bad it did not happen. But the whole conception of Belinda album was to make french classic songs from 1930-50's. Edited January 31, 2007 at 07:21 PM by Igor Quote http://www.inside-whitney.com/belinda/voila_poster.jpg
