Jennifer Posted January 30, 2007 at 04:32 AM Posted January 30, 2007 at 04:32 AM Most of the people I work with have been using it for a while (I work at Microsoft), but I've been stuck with XP! So, I've worked with it, just not primarily. I can't wait until they finally give it to me at work... Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/JenniferCeline/nextplaneout3_small.jpg
Mozinha Posted January 30, 2007 at 04:52 AM Posted January 30, 2007 at 04:52 AM I am dumb as Jessica Simpson when it comes to computers. So I have a few questions: I have Windows XP in my computer (Bought it with the computer last august) do I have to buy Vista or just upgrade it for free? Instaling Windows Vista would make me lose all my data? Will I lose my Office? Is this one really better than XP? I never really liked XP. I never really liked XP.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well unfortunately you will have to buy Vista if you badly want to have it. However if you are happy with Windows XP there isn't much new to Vista except some graphical interface update and a new search function. But it indeed does look way better than XP. If you switch to Vista, you will not lose anything on your computer - the installer will only update the Operating System leaving all your files as they were. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

But if you decide to install Vista and want to keep all your files, be sure that you purchase the upgrade, and not the full installation version. Also, make sure you have all the requirements siur posted above; you'll find yourself regretting the upgrade if you don't have the specs. To find out what your particular PC might need before performing the upgrade, I recommend you download and run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor. It'll scan your system and tell you what need before upgrading. Mozinha Posted January 30, 2007 at 08:58 PM Posted January 30, 2007 at 08:58 PM Thank you guys for the info and advice. I won't be buying it anytime soon anyways, maybe next year. We'll see. Bellamy Posted January 31, 2007 at 12:28 AM Posted January 31, 2007 at 12:28 AM The upgrade version Vista is just stupid. You can't do a clean install by upgrade version anymore, must have Xp installed. Also not even Microsoft dare to say you won't lose anything during upgrade. Microsoft is known for tons of bugs when upgrade. I won't try Vista till there's a "good" version anyway. I'd never DARE do an upgrade (unless it was probably to XP from a previous OS).Edit: Don't get your hopes up to do (were they even up there to begin with?). Vista R2 is just a rumor. I thought I'd buy Mac because of the graphical reason. PC's display monitor's colors a bit strange. Not good for graphic printing. Clari Posted January 31, 2007 at 10:02 AM Posted January 31, 2007 at 10:02 AM I love those Mac commercials! I was thinking of upgrading because at the school bookstore they will be selling upgrades for $20-$30, but I don't even have the system requirements for the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor... Krys Posted February 4, 2007 at 02:08 AM Posted February 4, 2007 at 02:08 AM i saw this contest going on and Vista Ultimate was up for grabs. too bad i didnt have time or else i would have joined it to try my luck Quote
stevethefan Posted February 6, 2007 at 01:08 AM Posted February 6, 2007 at 01:08 AM My advice, unless you are buying a new PC is to WAIT. They always come out with these new operating systems that sound great but have alot of bugs when they are first introduced. I was thinking about this yesterday and then sure enough, today on the news, it mentioned all of these upgrade problems, etc that users are experiencing. Keep your money for now. It does look nice though. Quote
