Céline's Blues Posted January 28, 2007 at 07:59 PM Posted January 28, 2007 at 07:59 PM (edited) She's gotten an entry in the 32 Volumes Britannica Encyclopadia 2007 edition. Needless to say the one we don't talk about or mention here doesn't have any such entry whatsoever. http://www.edirectory.co.uk/pf/images/products/1052/i/61875img.jpg Dion, CélineEncyclopædia Britannica Article born March 30, 1968, Charlemagne, Que., Can. Canadian singer who achieved international superstardom and was considered one of the top pop vocalists of the 1990s. Working in the pop ballad tradition, she recorded numerous albums in both French and English and was the recipient of several prestigious awards. Dion, the youngest of 14 children, began singing with her family when she was 5. At age 12 she came to the attention of impresario René Angélil—whom she married in 1994—and her career was launched. She won top awards at the Yamaha World Song Festival in Tokyo in 1982 and best female performer and discovery of the year at Quebec's Felix Awards in 1983; also in 1983 she became the first Canadian recipient of a gold record in France. In 1988 she won the Eurovision Song Contest with her recording of “Ne partez pas sans moi.” Two years later, “Where Does My Heart Beat Now?,” her first recording in English, was released in 16 countries, and the following year she sang the closing song in the animated film An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. Dion attracted more international attention in 1993 with her duet with Peabo Bryson on the title song of the Disney animated feature Beauty and the Beast—it won both a Grammy and an Oscar. But perhaps her greatest renown came from her recording of “My Heart Will Go On,” in the 1997 motion picture Titanic. In 1998 Dion received Canada's highest honour: appointment as an officer of the Order of Canada. Back to TopTo cite this page: * MLA style: "Dion, Céline." Encyclopædia Britannica. Joe Posted January 28, 2007 at 08:56 PM Posted January 28, 2007 at 08:56 PM Is that the complete entry? If so, I find it funny that the latest thing they mention is from 1998, as if that were the end of her career. At least they could've added a word or two about her Vegas success. And why do they mention Fievel Goes West, she may have sung the song but it never made it to the soundtrack, if I'm not mistaken. But yes, great that she has an entry! Quote

But yes, great that she has an entry! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hmm yes she did sang that song... she mentioned it her in bio... the thing is, some other singer (linda something) was asked by spielberg first, but she didn't want to do... but AFTER céline recorded the song... she did want to do it.. and spielberg agreed... It left Céline heartbroken and she actually didn't want to do BATB because of it... but just like MHWGO... the things that at first she didn't want to do... were her biggest achievements! it's cool she's mentioned! But I find it strange they mention that song! lol! Must be some old bio they checked... maybe some day the song will be released!
