keny Posted January 15, 2007 at 11:43 PM Posted January 15, 2007 at 11:43 PM Here is what he said Last Monday... Conan O'Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Monday night, "A little showbiz news. Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has announced that after five years they've decided to end their exclusive concert engagement with Celine Dion. [Cheers and applause] Yeah. To maintain continuity, Caesars will replace Dion with a shrieking baby and a car alarm." Typical Quote

But bombarding him with emails won't do a thing. They'll either ignore it, or find it hilarious and make it worse. Mozinha Posted January 16, 2007 at 01:46 AM Posted January 16, 2007 at 01:46 AM There is nice humour and funny parodies. I love laughing at Celine skits. But this one was just not funny. Actually, I think he is quite boring and I will forever mourn when Leno leaves tonight show. kdw123 Posted January 16, 2007 at 01:59 AM Posted January 16, 2007 at 01:59 AM Well first of all I cannot stand Conan. I think he is the most obnoxious person alive. I have never nor will I ever watch his show. And I hate it when people make fun of Celine. She is such a nice and caring person and sometimes people take advantage of that and make fun of her. I think she has proven her popularity and how talented she is by her ticket sales from the past 4 years. Plus she decided to end the show, not Caesars Palace! So next time maybe he can get his facts straight. Quote
stevethefan Posted January 16, 2007 at 02:04 AM Posted January 16, 2007 at 02:04 AM I'm a fan of Conan's show, but unfortunately, as we all know, Celine is a performer whohas often been the punchline for many jokes. I think this has lessened in the past few years since she's been in LV but I'm sure we have not seen the end of this. I think Celine may be aware of this and I'm sure she is good natured about it. She's probably the first one to make fun of herself since she has a great sense of humor. I remember how there was a woman on the American show Saturday Night Live who did a skit that kind of poked fun at her about eight or ten years ago. Celine actually met with her on some other TV show I saw at one time and it turns out she was a big Celine fan. Quote
celinerific Posted January 16, 2007 at 02:16 AM Posted January 16, 2007 at 02:16 AM Oh man, I'm gonna smack him and sit on it and jump on his head until he's learned his lessons. And I saw this other one where he was making fun of Friends, my favourite show. It was mean. I don't see how this is a way of life, or worse yet, even a way of comedy. smw Posted January 19, 2007 at 07:38 AM Posted January 19, 2007 at 07:38 AM I'm a fan of Conan's show, but unfortunately, as we all know, Celine is a performer whohas often been the punchline for many jokes. I remember how there was a woman on the American show Saturday Night Live who did a skit that kind of poked fun at her about eight or ten years ago. Celine actually met with her on some other TV show I saw at one time and it turns out she was a big Celine fan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This woman from Saturday Night Live was Ana Gasteyer...and she's a fantastic impressionist and comedian! Celine loved it...I remember her talking about it when I went to her Let's Talk About Love concert. She said something along the lines of "So the other night, I was watching TV with my husband...and I was flipping through the channels, and I stop on Saturday Night Live." (the audience already is laughing because we ALL had seen those skits of "The Celine Dion Show") She went on to talk about how funny it was to see someone imitating her. I like Conan. He's funny---yeah, annoying sometimes...but that's his TV personality. It's what has put him where he is. I think he just took a shallow stab at Celine because he knew it would get a cheap laugh. Doesn't mean he doesn't think she's a great singer. Quote
RLAAMJR. Posted January 19, 2007 at 09:55 AM Posted January 19, 2007 at 09:55 AM Conan O'Brien is my favorite comedy host... he really makes me laugh on his late night shows. As for what he has said about Celine Dion, it was just a joke though it will also hurt a lot of people. But we must think that it is better forus not to be get mad about it but try to tellConan or whoever made it that they shouldn't make such jokes cos it can drive some people crazy and hurt. Quote

If Celine sounded like a "shrieking baby and a car alarm" she wouldn't have sold out every one of her shows since it started. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Analizing the situation well I guess that's really what he was referring to... Then shrieking baby = Cher and car alarm = Bette Milder But If it was to make fun of Céline, I'm sure one day he'll have to swallow all the words he spoke! And you know what? I think we all should get together and make a comedy program! Then, whenever we had the possibilty we would just make fun of him... and when we started we'd never stop! About Leno going out I didn't know either... Leno is nice, I like him... This conan I've never seen... I guess... pascaladolphejean Posted February 19, 2009 at 01:58 PM Posted February 19, 2009 at 01:58 PM (edited) From today's Times website, front page: A New Home in Late Night’s Shifting SandBy BILL CARTER Conan O’Brien ends his run as host of “Late Night” on Friday. He’ll take over the “Tonight Show” in June, but will retain his familiar role as follow-up act to Jay Leno. Continues....._____________________________________________________________________________ Question: After years of quite nasty Céline bashing and of recycling the same old jokes (prime example, his Arnold impression), will the new sands turn out to be quicksand for our friend Conan?
