Did Gregory Charles outshone Céline?

When they sang together "Stand By Me" live @ Nickles it was clear for me that she was all so perfect vocally and all but she couldn't have made it through the song without help of Gregory. She just copied his adlibs one for one with only slight adjustments. She had this perfect control over her voice that was amzaming and just a treat to hear but to be honest Gregory's soulful delivery was what made the performance so good, not Céline's copying his runs.

 

I wish she'd sing it again. We already saw that when she sang LCMM in duet with this TV presenter on the OH special she indeed induced some serious sanging! MUCH better than in 1995 when she was basically singing background.

 

BTW, this was supposedly arranged by Charles to see whether Céline could ad-lib or not but the outcome as we see is that she rather prefers to stick to the other songer's directions than sing on her own. Nonthelessbutstillofcourse she would sound much better now,, I'm sure.

She let him sing, she let him do the main vocal parts.. it has nothing to do with outshining.. This was just a plain fun performance..

I know I'm gonna get myself a fight here but I gotta say it: siur, you sound more like a Celine hater than a fan...You're always saying she wasn't good, she does playback and that her choices are bad....I'm wondering what are you doing on this forum.

This is utter nonsense, how can you say she just copied?It's so fresh, she brings colour to the song, even if she is on the background.She improvised and it was great, it's so obvius they sang in different keys and they did a great job together.Celine proved once again she can sing almost everything!
