IMO Celine Dion, her self-titled album is/was quite underestimated and is rather forgotten, however it's one of her (if not her best) English albums. Many of You have praised it that it is not as "artificial" as FIY, it's more sincere, some songs sound quite "mystic" (I think Siur mentioned something like that for some songs, Halfway to Heaven...). I think it's a quite mature love album.

There are many good songs on this album, so which one is your favourite? Why do you like/don't like this album?

Well, this album is perhaps one of my fav ones or maybe my fav one...

 

It's true that it was quite underestimated.At least, by people... because when the album was released with the slogan 'remember the name because you'll never forget the voice ' , reviews were very good. Wall Street newspaper said it was one of the best albums in 20 years, adding that Céline was the voice of her generation ! :giggle: Nothing less...

 

This album so much different that Unison : it shows all Céline's talent for me and her voice in it is just pefect and beautiful. What a maturity too when it comes to lyrics: songs like If you could see me now, I love you , goodbye or with this tear are amazing love songs!

This album is her less commercial one I think. For this, it's a timeless album for me...there's no comparison with the following one "the colour of my love"

 

Even the up-tempo songs like "Did you give enough love " or the funky " a little bit of love " are masterpieces ! There is a real coherence between all the songs..

 

So to set up , this album is , according me :

 

her most beautiful one (regarding her voice and songs )

her most coherent one

her less commercial one

her more artistic one ( Halfway to heaven is divine... ) .

I can't pick up a song ... but I always skip (the only one ) LCMM...

 

Moreover, the cover is :in_love: the colours are wonderful...

It's a close call, cos eversince I got the album WFTM and NBBMH are my favs! But I've choosen NBBMH... it's simply amazing! :cry: :wub: :wub:

 

I agree, it's a forgotten album and truely a masterpiece! It's just weird the album didn't produce much hits! DYGEL should definatly have been a single! :pinch: She should perform other songs from Celine Dion... besided LCMM! :xmaswhistling:

 

Moreover, the cover is  :in_love: the colours are wonderful...

 

did you know that the cover was a picture taken actually before the offical photoshoot? They were still waiting for the hairdresser, and Céline just sat there in the sunlight, and they made a pic of it! :in_love:

this is one of her best english albums.... yes I think THE best! It's a real album every songs fits the other and it's all a whole concept. very clean, mysttic sometimes, emotional sounds with some amazing lyrics...

 

My favs are ILYG, NBBMH, WFTM, HTH, IYCSMN, IIWY and LBOL but I choose I LOve You goodbye.... :cry:

Tough choice!

I voted for "Nothing Broken But My Heart", but I could also easily vote for "If Only You Could See Me Now", "I love you goodbye" or "Beauty And The Beast" instead.

In second place, I'd put " If I were you" or "Did you give enough love".

 

This very morning I woke up with "I love you goodbye" on my head! :kicking:

I picked "Little Bit Of Love." I love the upbeatness (is that even a word?) of it. Plus I love the saxophone during the middle of the song. Too bad it never was sung live. :cry:

Its my least favorite album...I HATE the cover, i HATE halfway to heaven

and none of the tunes got stuck in my mind (except beauty and the beast) so i never listen to it :S

However there many songs i like (if you asked me to, water from the moon, did you give enough love, i love you goodbye) but not LOVE them, i think my favorite is With this Tear (i pressed null vote though).Kinda reminds me a new day has come as an album (10 years earlier though) either of them definately NOT her best album

This album is a MASTERPIECE. First of all it is the most complete album of Celine, coz it has an intro (introduction) and an outro (NBBMH's enfing). WDHMBN is an extra track and not a part of this ablum. The songs, the music, the lyrics, everything is amazing,mature, relaxing and so touching. There are lot's of musical instruments, funky uptempo songs, powerful and meanful ballads. It is her less boring album and it is much better comparing to her 'predictable' and boring FIY-LTAL. Celine is not singing like a robot, but she is very relaxed. HTH, IOYCSMN, DYGEL, WFTM, NBBMH, WTT, ALBOL are so PERFECT!!

this is the only Celine dion albume wich I don't have and I realy look for to have it but the broblem is I can't find any where in Libya

but I have listened to I you asked me too and I loved it

also with this tear I loved it

Show Some Emotion. Superb song....and I agree that this is a more sophisticated album AND miles better than a couple of her other English releases. I rank it among the top two English albums. She was still trying to prove her talent....and she sure as hell did!

This album has been my favorite Celine Dion (and also my favorite of all time) album and this has been a mastepiece. This album included many beautifuls ballad like If You Asked Me to and Beauty And the Beast and also up-tempo like A Little Bit of Love and Love Can Move Moutains.

 

But my favorite songs of the album is Love Can Move Moutains, A Little Bit of Love and Nothing Broken But my Heart. I Also love the song Love You Blind, recorded from the Celine Dion sessions (Written by Sheryl Crow and produced by Walter Afanasieff) and included of the If You Asked Me to single.

I'd love that but would be happy if she at least included WDMHBN which is more likely as she sang it in Vegas.
