Not to be biased, but...

Okay, I'm not trying to be biased against Sony Music Canada, but I just have a feeling that if Celine moved back over to Sony Music USA, she would do a little better when it comes to promotions and sucess on the charts. Songs like ANDHC and BYLM were produced, released, and promoted by Sony Music USA, and they did astoundingly well. It may be just me, but with all do respect, does anyone think Celine would do a lot better if she decided to move back to Sony Music USA instead of Canada? :whistling:

She would have started her own label by now IF she wanted to be relevant in music buisness and have some major shift in her music quality and direction. Sony has been a home for her just cuzz it's convenient. Very convenient.

About BYLM, she got purely lucky cuzz otherwise Sony's decisions considering her singles and promo were

I encourage her starting her own lable. But, it's really up to her. I'm Canadian and I would prefer Canada, but above all, she should start her own lable by now, it would be so much easier.

She's signed to Epic in the USA, or 550 Music as it was called earlier. I've read somewhere that The Power Of Love was the first #1 that 550 Music ever had. Actually Epic (USA), Columbia (Canada), and Sony (France) they all belong together, it's not a question of moving from one to another, because each is only concerned about their own country. So that means Epic might do a good job for her promotion in the USA, but that doesn't really help her internationally.

Somehow I've always thought she should have followed David Foster when he moved to Warner Bros.

I do not think she cares enough either way. Things likes promotion, sales and that kind of stuff do not seem to matter to her.

I totally agree! Artists such as Cher and Madonna who are the WB label get a crapload of promotion! They're albums do amazing (even if they're not up to par), they get concert specials on TV, DVDs are released every year, etc.

Granted a lot of this falls back on René's shoulders, and seeing as they're more interested in their son now than the charts and sales I doubt anything will be drastically changing anytime soon.

Luckily for her she has the opportunity of doing concerts and tours, because for that the record label has very little to say. So if she wants to take promotion in her own hand the best opportunity would be to do a lot of live shows like she's always done - and additionally the record label doesn't get any money from that (only indirectly since people will go and buy her records after seeing her on tour or right now in Vegas).

It's hard to say if changing labels, or going from Sony Canada to Sony USA would make any difference. Sometimes I think just going to ANY other major label would help because the new label would want to build momentum and be successful with getting an artist who has already had major success. Labels are mostly concerned with selling to a very young audience, as has always been the case in popular music because they are the ones that historically buy the most music. That's why all of the videos you see are mostly aimed at that 13-21 year old age group. It's very difficult to put out a hit album, for anyone. Celine obviously has the proven talent to do it, but as other people were saying, it depends on the album producer, writers, and alot of other factors. Personally. I rather have her just put out something where she really enjoys the songs everyone would enjoy the album as a whole, not just a few hit songs. We will find out in 2007.
