Celine cancelled shows and Billboard appearance

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--We regret to inform you that performances of A New Day... scheduled for Wednesday, November 29; Thursday, November 30; Friday, December 1; Saturday, December 2; and Sunday, December 3 have been cancelled.

 

Celine Dion has contracted a respiratory infection diagnosed as mycoplasma bronchitis, which can be highly contagious. Her doctor has prescribed medication to treat the infection and has given Celine strict orders to stay home and rest in order to recover as soon as possible.

 

Celine also has cancelled her scheduled appearance at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on Monday, December 4.

 

Performances of A New Day... are scheduled to resume on Thursday, December 28.

 

Those who purchased tickets with a credit card for the cancelled performances will be automatically refunded. Those who purchased tickets with cash may present tickets at the original point of sale for a refund. For ticket exchanges for a future performance, please contact the original point of purchase. Ticketholders who purchased through Ticketmaster may call 1-877-4-CELINE.

i'm truely worried

i stopped counting already the number of times that celine had to cancel her shows during the past 3 years...she NEVEW had to cancel so many shows during her previous tours...

 

option no 1 - she is weak for some reason and maybe sick and it has nothing to do with her career and the pressure of performing sometimes 5 nights a week . i think and pray it's not this option .

 

option no 2 - she is only human , she is performing sooooooooo much , too much and she needs a long break . i hope she'll take more vacations from her show and once the show ends i hope she'll take atleast a 3 months vacation of doing nothing and i mean nothing!! just having fun with her family...

 

i know that people r getting sick all the time and it doesnt have to be serious but celine was never sick like this before time after time after time - she is getting older and performing 4 or 5 nights a week is just too much , not to mention the weather in las vegas

Gogo, the fact that she never canceled as many shows in the past doesn't mean a single THING. If you look at her tours and her cancellations percentage-wise, it isn't all that surprising that she cancelled about roughly 5-6% of her shows.. To all that come the fact that she has been living with asthma for so long now and her condition isn't being helped by the raw Vegas air, either.

I've heard of Celine is sick these days. Some fans had noticed she's very uncomfortable in the show these days, and also skip "If I Could". So it must be even serious now, and she must rest.

Well I hope she is doing well recovering from this illness. From what I've heard, she has really has not cancelled that many shows during her Las Vegas run. When she has cancelled it was usually for a good reason, like an illness. I was surprised that she actually performed on the evening that she found out her father had passed away a few years ago. I don't think anyone would have blamed her for taking that evening off. She knows that fans will be disappointed, especially if they've spent all of the money to go to LV and plan ahead for the trip and everything. It's good that she will have alot of time to recover until the end of December. Get well Celine!

I don't think she has cancelled that many shows considering the number of shows she performs every year. Plus the night that she found out that her father had died, she performed. She then cancelled the next week for the funeral and because she got sick that next week, but that was different - her sickness then was caused more from the stress of loosing her father. She also got sick after going to the World Music Awards in 2004, but again that was caused by the smoke that they used at the show. And yes there have been a few other times, but she is only human.
