Céline's Blues Posted November 25, 2006 at 02:08 PM Posted November 25, 2006 at 02:08 PM (edited) ...that Céline has to feel very baldy ever since 1998 every time when she record a new album. I mean how can one top THE definitive masterpiece of one's own career? It must be really hard to face the hard truth. I guess she simply forgets she has recorded "S'il Suffisait D'aimer" when René receives the check from Sony for the songs his wife did with the Swedish team... René: "Regarde Céline! How many zèros we have this time on our check! Let's count together: Un, deux, three, four, five, six, sept... YAY!" Edited November 25, 2006 at 02:16 PM by siur Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
CSCfan Posted November 25, 2006 at 02:19 PM Posted November 25, 2006 at 02:19 PM I think she may have felt baldy in 2000-2003 yes, but that's really it.. Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY
unicorn Posted November 25, 2006 at 04:42 PM Posted November 25, 2006 at 04:42 PM I think that this album came out very quickly, after FIY and LTAL.That`s the reason why TATST flopped on the french charts. And it is another think about this album:it is too sad It has a very sad feeling, the whole album: Papillon, Sur le meme bateau, Je crois toi. The instruments are very good, the vocalism to, but when I hear the album, I became sad, and I`m going to cry everytime I don`t know, what`s your opinion. Quote Visit My Website
Elaine Posted November 26, 2006 at 01:21 PM Posted November 26, 2006 at 01:21 PM My opinion is that this album is just wonderful!! I love it and it's one of the albums that I hear most! Quote http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1352/opo3.jpg
firebird Posted November 26, 2006 at 02:38 PM Posted November 26, 2006 at 02:38 PM Do you remember in 1995 Rene announced in every interview that they wanted to make an album that can top D'eux - and actually we are still waiting for such an album, so I don't think they should worry too much about it. The albums she released after D'eux are good (some more some less) in their own way, but when you've reached the top, it's hard to repeat it. The other thing is that Goldman himself hasn't been able to write something as good as that since S'il Suffisait D'Aimer. Look at his own albums he released since En Passant/SISDA. They aren't as good as what he wrote before. Quote
vivezpouraimer Posted November 27, 2006 at 08:24 PM Posted November 27, 2006 at 08:24 PM This doesn't really work as a response to anything, hehe, but I just listened to it this morning. I love it. Quote
smw Posted November 28, 2006 at 02:27 AM Posted November 28, 2006 at 02:27 AM This is THE album that I would play for someone who had never heard music before. Her voice is absoultely superb...the instruments and arrangements are perfect. The entire album for the first note to the last is a masterpiece. She will never be able to recreate this kind of magic....but she can create a whole new kind of sound. And that's what I'm hoping for! Quote
Lawna Posted November 28, 2006 at 02:59 AM Posted November 28, 2006 at 02:59 AM I love that album, but like Celine said about the mega hit Titanic: There is only one Titanic, there can't be a Titanic 2 (not exact quote, but close enough). So in a way, there can't be a SISDA 2. There is only one. And because of this, I think it makes SISDA even more of a treasure. Celine can try new things in her career and be successful in different areas and maybe one day in the near future she will do something so fantastic and amazing, that we just might find ourselves here again, asking "How will she top this?" I mean we asked ourselves that question when she recorded MHWGO. And I sometimes think to myself about her Las Vegas show, how will she top that? She set a new precedent there that is bringing in a new era to Las Vegas. stevethefan Posted November 29, 2006 at 04:31 AM Posted November 29, 2006 at 04:31 AM I agree it's a great album. I think she COULD top it if she gets a good team again.I know she has talked about how the french albums are differnt from the english ones, and how the french ones (and french music) emphasise the words more than the pure singing. I know in interview she always seems to mention how the english songs use more"arabesque" singing, which (I think) is what alot of American pop singers sound like (thinkWhitney H, Christine Ag, etc). I've always wished she would make an english album that is more like her french albums, if that makes any sense. But I think the record company does not want to try anything riskyand more artistic so they always try to manufacture what they hope will be popular. I would think at this point in her career Celine would have more say in what would be on these albums. I wish she would go more with her instincts on what SHE wants on these albums. She wrote a good song herself with Marc Dupre. I'm hoping she does more work with JJGoldman. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Quote
I Surrender Posted November 29, 2006 at 07:30 PM Posted November 29, 2006 at 07:30 PM This is my fave french album. Love it. I think it has so many great songs on it and it is always the album that I play people who have never heard Céline. I think it has something to do with all the strings in it. Like in Je crois toi when it does that little bit of strings and it sounds soo good... Quote http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/7108/ziegfieldgirlbanner.jpg
