winforlife Posted November 23, 2006 at 03:47 AM Posted November 23, 2006 at 03:47 AM A very happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate My thoughts are with the men and women serving in Iraq who aren't able to spend the holiday with their loved ones. Célinefull Posted November 25, 2006 at 10:45 AM Posted November 25, 2006 at 10:45 AM I don't think that Thanksgiving is a Christian holiday, all though it was the Puritans, was it not? It's funny; I've never actually met anyone who celebrates thanksgiving, yet I've seen/heard it so many times that I know what it is about and I know what goes on on the day! There are plenty of misconceptions about the first Thanksgiving and the relationship between the Pilgrims and the native Americans, Pokanoket tribe... If you are interested , the book "Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community, and War" by Nathaniel Philbrick is a well researched account of the Pilgrims and their plight in the new world.
