Talking about returns: What didn´t help in ANDHC ?

Everybody´s talking about Céline´s big return...

Should her be wise and look to the past to find her mistakes???

She´s already tried to return once, with ANDHC and I honestly think It failed!!! Even when they made a great effort... but it just didn´t work....

 

Let´s find what didn´t help it to achieve success... so they can correct it this time...

A new day has come was a great return

for example i'm alive stood as long in the list as my heart will go on

A new day has come the single did pretty good too

the rest was mis choiced single from sony!

Here is my point....

 

1.- TOO many European producers!!!

 

2.- No new purposes musically speaking, I mean, Everything good but just standard

 

3.- Bad single´s choice ...

 

4.- TOO many covers...

 

5.- Wrong songs selection: Rain Tax, Superlove, At last, and not including the I´m alive humberto gatica´s version in the album instead of the original version...

 

6.- No Celine´s voice exploring, nothing new in her voice...

 

7.- Bad Promotion (Sony, like always)...

 

 

And you´re wrong my friend, I didn´t say it was bad... Just that it wasn´t good enough as to reach the 30 millions of copies Celine is to sell worldwide... so don´t be misled...

Her return with ANDHC was definately not a failure. Certainly, it could've been better, but that's with everything.

I myself, cannot agree with you. ANDHC did very well. The single was extremely radio friendly and has become a very popular song. Anywhere I go, people know ANDHC. And I can't say that the choices for singles on that album were bad choices. IA was a great up-tempo song, ANDHC is extremely radio friendly, as previously stated, and G(TSW) was an extremely beautiful ballad.

 

And though more singles should have been released from this album, such as IS, WTWOLYR, etc., you can't call this a failure.

 

The main problem is that SONY wouldn't promote Celine to her fullest potential. They were to obsessed with their stupid pop divas. If Sony would begin promoting Celine well, we wouldn't have this problem.

 

BTW, I must say, that RT(II), SL, AL, IA are all EXTREMELY GREAT tracks!! Some of my most favorite on the album!!

i didnt think it was a failure! it could have been better, but it wass not a failure. the albu went to #1, the song andhc went to #1 and stayed so long it made some record. i do think there was horrible song choice for singles. the promotional tour was just tv shows and a few special concerts (like wnago tango, divas 2002) i think if she did a concert tour, even a small little one would have done wonders.

I also think it is important to remember that we can never again expect the kind of sales that FIY ot LTAL generated. We are living in a different age as far as record sales are concerned. ANDHC did very well in the UK and topped the album charts as Celine's albums always do. Singles are never that good for Celine, but singles are normally purchased by a very young market. Though Celine has some young fans, they are by far not the majority.

 

I think, with two or three well chosen singles with good music videos she will do really well. She is still one of the most popular artists on this planet, and with the right timing and advertising from Sony she will have a great success. I'm feeling really positive about this, we have heard some very exciting news recently, there is obviously alot of confidence and drive in the Dion camp!

In my opinion ANDHC was a great return of Celine, after a break, it's one of my favourite English albums!! Songs are really great, maybe because of a fact it's like a collaboration of music styles. My favourites are ANDHC, IM, IS, NB and many more, I can't think of now

ANDHC is a great album. It was definitely a success. True some of the single choices could have been better, but it was definitely a successful album. With all the downloads available now, albums just don't sell like they used to so Celine will never sell as many albums again like she did before, nor will anyone else. I think ANDHC was a good single and did really well on the charts. IA didn't do as well mainly because ANDHC was still going strong and "Stuwart Little 2" didn't do well in the theatres. I don't know why GBTSW didn't get a lot of radio play. It is a great song. Was it not even sent to stations in the USA? I never heard it on the radio. True it wasn't the best choice for the third single, but it is still a great song. As far as we know, IS could have flopped if it was released as a single. True many of think that it would have done great, but we don't really know that for sure.

it made me become a fan, at least

there's no doubt that the album & the first 2 singles had a good promotion

but the promotion after the second single became bad

After the 2nd single, I think Celine & Rene's focus was set more toward Las Vegas and AND than on the album which makes perfect sence. OH was only a gift to the fans and a promotion for AND. I know some people will never get that, but it was never meant to be a "hit" album.

It was definitely not a failure in my books. The album did really well the first week, went straight to #1, moving over 500k units. Is it her first album to do that? The single got good airplay here, it was well received by even non fans due to the upbeat and sweet lyrics.

I don´t know if any of you have realized That we are not talking about Kelly Clarkson or any other new artist... We are talking about Miss Celine so it is not enough for her just to accept as normal staying between the top ten, when se was used to be between the top 3, Or just debut in # 1 in USA, when she could last several weeks there, the same applies to the 7 weeks in Europe...

"A New Day Has Come album" was a hit BUT I think that if inspite of releasing "One Heart" Sony had decided to release "I Surrender", "Have You Ever Been In Love", "Sorry For Love" or even "Ten Days" as singles, the album would have been a major success.
