i know! i have few friends who are studying there, most of them are taking up Interior Design (i do believe). and oh i think u should invite Dhruv, Eddie, Alex, or even Miguel to come over to ur school... i would love to watch the oblation run with u guys LOL!!!

 

about the topic, i think Regine earned that title back in 1994, when she did a duet with a HK singer Jacky Cheung, via the song "In Love With You", and the duet was very successful. and when she released her album Listen Without Prejudice, it became successful too, and was certified Multi-platinum, platinum and gold in many asian countries, that made her the first female asian artist to accomplish that feat. it lasted until the release of her final "internationally released" album called Retro back in 1996.

Many people has the voice had never been recognized anywhere. So it's about the voice and sales. If Celine, Mariah, Whitney sold only 10K album, do you think they would be called as songbird?

 

Very true, Bellamy But the whole popular-only-in-Asia (or some other region barring America) factor also plays a very important role. There are so many artists who have really nice(and amazing) voices but aren't popular cos they aren't "big in America". But I defo don't count Regine as one of those voices. Surprisingly(or not), the way she tries so hard to copy the "DIVAS" annoys the hell out of me.

i really don't know, but i must say she's pretty huge here. possibly the Philippines version of Celine Dion.

 

my cousin is a HUGE fan of hers, so i know a lot of her songs and her achievements since she started in 1986, but i've never been a real fan of hers. i must admit i listen to some of her materials.

I don't consider myself as a fan but, like I said before, I was utterly amazed at how well she sounded during an acoustic special that featured her Filipino songs ONLY. I have to say the best live singing that I've ever heard. What's funny is that the broadcast that I chanced upon was a rerun bec. it was on a Good Friday.

 

To dhena & dj: Trust me, I've never seen any edition of the naked run but I'm aware that the gay forces always manage to stake out the frontlines and let out a collective scream that I swear once caused our second-floor classroom to almost collapse.
