Céline's Blues Posted October 20, 2006 at 11:58 AM Posted October 20, 2006 at 11:58 AM Let's be honest here: We do spend money WAY more than we would need to in the end. Do we need this new pair of shoes? Or this wonderfully blouse that is so in this fall? Or perhaps that new computer with tons of new gimmicks that we could peacefully live without? Or this tasty chocolate candy bar each day at school/work/bus station/mall? It's almost frightening to think about how much spoiled we are. Especially if you consider the following: Number of children in the world 2.2 billionNumber in poverty 1 billion (every second child) The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined. 20% of the population in the developed nations, consume 86% of the world’s goods. A few hundred millionaires now own as much wealth as the world’s poorest 2.5 billion people. According to UNICEF, 30,000 children die each day due to poverty. And they “die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invisible in death.”That is about 210,000 children each week, or just under 11 million children under five years of age, each year. “Today, across the world, 1.3 billion people live on less than one dollar a day; 3 billion live on under two dollars a day; 1.3 billion have no access to clean water; 3 billion have no access to sanitation; 2 billion have no access to electricity. Cambroneroj Posted October 20, 2006 at 01:09 PM Posted October 20, 2006 at 01:09 PM (edited) Yes i do it all the time , all the time like going to las vegas 5 times a year and spend $200+ on tickets to see Celine and not only one night but several but actually thats something we all need , yes we all need! lol its bad for example i bought my car a CLK500 and it cost me $61000 and yeah i know i could be driving a toyota or honda for only $15000 or less, or a citizen watch and not the omega or patek philippe i have, or seven jeans, armani shirts or ck this out lol $350 swiming trunks from versace! dont know what i was thinking but they look good , BUT i work too hard and its something i feel i deserve . We buy a lot of things that we dont need but what i think its important is that you help others like charity events or sponsorships for pour kids and things of that nature before you go and spend all your money oh s...t like this. WendyB Posted October 25, 2006 at 01:00 PM Posted October 25, 2006 at 01:00 PM I always go crazy and spend too much in the Céline Boutique in Vegas - that's the trouble with credit cards. You don't realise how much you've spent until you get home and receive the bill Quote
