betterone Posted October 9, 2006 at 05:23 AM Posted October 9, 2006 at 05:23 AM "Heaven's what I Feel" in Gloria Estefan's "gloria" albumn released in 1998 was first written for and recorded by Celine Dion. But she refused it at last. The song was first live performed on "VH1 Divas Live"show in New York in 1998. Celine shared the stage that night and Rene was there of course. The single soon became a hot dancing song. I tried to catch Rene's expression when Gloria was performing that song when watching the DVD. What a pity Celine Missed a big boat! Quote

fred Posted October 9, 2006 at 10:35 AM Posted October 9, 2006 at 10:35 AM This song sounds like an entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. But it's ok. With Céline's vocals it would lift higher though. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
Nando Férri Posted October 9, 2006 at 02:52 PM Posted October 9, 2006 at 02:52 PM I knew it was for her... but I don't care... This song sucks anyway. LOL Quote http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4ejungtQy1r9swpco6_250.gif

Elaine Posted October 12, 2006 at 04:14 PM Posted October 12, 2006 at 04:14 PM I didn't know about that! I love the song in Gloria's voice but I'm sure in Celine's it'd be awesome too! Quote http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1352/opo3.jpg

leenylover Posted October 15, 2006 at 01:28 PM Posted October 15, 2006 at 01:28 PM It is an up-tempo, lively song. But it's not cool, it's corny! It sounds like a song from the sixties that's been modernised - badly! I'm kinda glad Celine didn't release it, although it would be interesting to hear her take - as always. on youtube is Gloria's version - the music video. I find it interesting she mimes over the first bit - which is actually Celine singing! Love Lisaxxx Quote My List of Celine Dion stuff, PM me to trade!
Love, Posted October 15, 2006 at 04:53 PM Posted October 15, 2006 at 04:53 PM NOPE. No Celine in this song, period. It's totally Gloria's voice all the way! I listened to it so many times, and I can understand how people can assume it's Celine's voice. But when people hum or do "ooos" they tend to sound similar. But by the vocal stretch and different depth in the voice, it was not Celine. Quote

I'm sure I read that somewhere? Love Lisaxxx Quote My List of Celine Dion stuff, PM me to trade!

I'm sure I read that somewhere? Love Lisaxxx<{POST_SNAPBACK}>With all due respect, my dear Lisa, I'd like some proof as well. Because you know... that was during the time of Celine's career where there were just so many fans and so many articles circulating around the world regarding Celine. It could also have been a rumor. I just think that it really takes away from artistic integrity if the rumors were true. It just does not seem rational for world-class artists like Gloria and Celine to do this, especially for an promotional video that was to be distributed all over the globe. Quote
leenylover Posted October 15, 2006 at 08:09 PM Posted October 15, 2006 at 08:09 PM Nope, I guess Gloria didn't say that afterall, but here is what she did have to say about the song: "This song was originally written for and recorded by Céline Dion. As luck would have it, Céline decided not to include it on her album and I loved the melody and lyric so much that I wanted it to be the first single from my 1998 dance-infused GLORIA! album. The first live performance of this song was on VH-1's first-ever 'Divas Live'. I'l never forget tripping on a lovely 'wrap stole' that I did not want to wear, fearing that exactly what happened would happen and on live television no less! But I guess that's what keeps those live shows exciting. I'll also never forget how dizzy I got shooting the video when I had to do somersaults hanging in mid-air on a wire. I had to send a runner out for dramamine. How they talk me into these things I'll never know!" I guess I got confused between what I read Gloria had quoted and what the fans believed! It does kinda sound like Celine at the start though. Love Lisaxxx Quote My List of Celine Dion stuff, PM me to trade!
Clari Posted October 16, 2006 at 06:58 AM Posted October 16, 2006 at 06:58 AM I think Celine probably recorded the ballad version, the ballad version is amazing!
