A L'Olympia

Just listened to the Live A L'Olympia CD after not hearing it for a long time (2-3 years??). I forgot just how crystal clear Celine's voice was on that! When she hits those long notes on Les Blues du Businessman and Le Fils du Superman, I got those chills down my neck. It reminded me of those good old days earlier in Celine's career when I REALLY liked the songs.

I think her voice in A L'Olympia was very nasal, even more than now. But it's still very great. I just don't think her voice in this concert was crystal.

Ahhh The good old days! I like this concert even though Celine is so "nasal" as you say... This concert rocks! It's so raw, full with energy! It's my second fav concert right after Live A Paris... Je danse dans ma tete is fenomenal in this rock-like guitar "coating", and I also love Des mots qui sonnent and don't forget the Satmania medley.... Oh and I forgot Elle! These songs are stripped down -there's no "symphonic orchestra" effect - but beautiful. I wish Celine could record these kinds of songs in English too...

Live A Paris and A l'Olympia are the only two Celine CD's I've never once listened to I've owned them for about 3 years now but just never played them...I suppose I should probably do that, so many peopl seem to love them!

It's a great concert, I love how she sounded and the song selection. It has also a really good production, and in my opinion many songs like Des Mots Qui Sonnent or Le Blues Du Businessman sound much better on this album then on the original Dion Chante Plamondon.

The only shame is that Sony never released a video/DVD for that concert.

I want it, but its always expensive cause its an import (from Canada which is closer to nyc then la is but whatever). I end up never buying it, so I've never heard it.

In Taiwan,A l'Olympia is the Austrian version and it's in reasonable price.

If you can't afford it, then download it. You should at least listen to the songs. You can buy the album later anyways, though it's overpriced. 23 $ - a little bit too much for only 13 songs.

I tried to download it from iTunes but its only available in the French store which I'm not allowed to purchase from.

Love A L'Olympia to death but i must confess that i much prefer Live a Paris! And of the two concerts, A Paris has the best versions of le blues du businessman and quand on n'a que l'amour, in my oppinion. I love the latter song so much, it just builds and builds. Fantastic!

 

I would love to have En Concert but can't seem to buy it anywhere!

Is the Quand On A Que L'Amour on this album the one thats on ONCP? Cause it sounds the same except for the beginning...

It's from Live A Paris, they've just edited out the audience noises. Personally I like the LAP version better. I don't know why, it sounds a bit more energetic.

What I discovered from A l'olympia...

 

SERIOUSLY?! TONIGHT WE DANCE IS ORIGINALLY FRENCH?! OMG I LOOVE THAT SONG!!!

 

and I love the version of Le monde est stone from the medley starmania

 

 

this really has a certain clarity that the album doesn't
