WOW, Circuit City does have a sweet deal.

But regarding your shipment - it's the computer telling you that they can have it to you in 2 days, but in reality - it's impossible, because the DVD is not even available to them until the 11th. For sure you'll get it by the 13th.

Fans hoping to spend the holidays with Celine Dion in high-def are going to have to wait for ' A New Day ,' as Sony BMG has bumped the planned December Blu-ray release of her live Vegas spectacular til next year. As originally reported back in October, 'Celine Dion: A New Day... Live in Las Vegas' was first announced for a December 11 Blu-ray release, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD. The release looked to be quite spectacular, with a splashy press release touting a "deluxe high-definition DVD" package featuring a making-of documentary, additional tracks, and even more extensive bonus features.

 

Unfortunately for fans of the multi-octave Canadian songstress, Sony BMG has confirmed earlier retailer reports that although the DVD release of 'A New Day' remains on schedule, the Blu-ray version has been yanked. However, a studio rep told High-Def Digest that the title has not been permanently cancelled, and that Sony BMG is currently eyeing a new date for Celine's high-def debut "sometime in 2008." As always, we'll keep you posted as soon as the title has been officially rescheduled. Stay tuned...

I can only think of 1 reason why its postponed. SONY IS THE GREEDIEST RECORD LABEL OUT THERE. They know we will all buy the DVD and then later when they release the blu-ray they know us devoted fans will go and buy it aswell. Makes me soo mad that they take advantage of situations like this

I think the BD-release is postponed due to a couple of reasons:

 

-There are not enough BD-Players (PS3 etc.) and/or HD-Ready TVs sold, Sony is waiting until more BD-players and/or HD-Ready TV's are sold (the more people have BD-players/HD-Ready TVs, the more people will buy a BD!), they want some 'hit-potential' for the things they release, and with little BD-players/HD-Ready TVs sold, the BD-disc has no chance to become a hit, when more people have BD-players/HD-Ready TVs next year the 'hit-potential' will be much bigger

 

-Sony waits until BD-players/HD-Ready TVs will get cheaper (a PS3 costs about € 499,- now, that's very expensive for 'normal' people!), the cheaper the player, the more chance that someone is buying it, the more chance that someone will buy BD-discs, to!

 

-The BD-technology is now only available for console games (PS3), other non-game BD-players are a rarity and if an electro-store has one, it is very expensive!

 

-Sony wants the recording(s) of the last A New Day....-show and a possible commercial for the upcoming TCh-tour on the BD, and the last AND.... show is on DEC 15th and it will be shown on TVA TV Dec 16th.... A possible tour commercial will possible be shot after AND.... has ended, and due to the Christmas holidays, the BD fabrication will not start until somewhere in January 2008, they need at ± 1½ month to produce enough BDs for a delivery to the music shops, so in my opinion the BD will come out at the beginning of the TCh Tour (there will also be more commercial activity around that time), sometime around Feb 14th!

Celine Dion Delayed

Sony BMG Sony BMG has announced that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Celine Dion: A New Day... Live in Las Vegas' has been delayed. No reason was given for the delay from the original December 11th release date, but it is expected to hit store shelves sometime next year. No specs or supplementals are expected to be affected by the delay.

It seems like the DVD release date has been postponed in the US because of the theatrical release:

 

Celine Dion A New Day… created by DRAGONE and presented by Chrysler DVD will be available on December 18th in high-definition featuring unique and entertaining behind-the-scenes bonus footage. Celine Dion’s Taking Chances World Tour U.S. leg launches in Boston on Aug. 12, 2008 and will wind its way throughout the U.S. and Canada with 45 arena dates, culminating on Jan. 30, 2009 in Ft. Lauderdale.
