Celine Dion A New Day… Begins Its Final Year

Las Vegas Blockbuster Prepares for Final Curtain Call on December 15, 2007

 

 

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Last night Celine Dion and cast performed the first show in what will be the fifth and final year for A New Day…, the Las Vegas performance spectacular created by DRAGONE. The show is scheduled to close on December 15, 2007, after a landmark run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, where it has been presented by Chrysler since March 2003.

 

“The fans have been so supportive of us, and I want to thank them for taking this journey with me. Working with Director Franco Dragone and a wonderful cast of the most incredible artists has given me the opportunity to interpret my music in a very different and profound way, and to share a unique experience with audiences from around the world every night,” said Celine Dion. “When I began this adventure four years ago, I had no idea how magical this experience truly would be. As we prepare ourselves to say goodbye, I know this will be the best year yet.”

 

Nearly two-and-a-half million fans have experienced A New Day… since it opened in the $95 million Colosseum designed for the show. As the performance has evolved through the years, its status as one of the hottest tickets in Las Vegas has been a constant.

 

“A New Day… has been a phenomenal success, and has surpassed anyone's expectations. A New Day… will continue to evolve in its final year, including new costumes and a stunning performance of “River Deep, Mountain High.” From January 17-21, the show will be filmed in high-definition for a soon-to-be-released TV special and DVD, which will include some very unique and entertaining behind-the-scenes bonus footage. The final block of tickets for performances from August through December will go on sale to the general public on March 1. Through a unique blend of concert, dance, theatre and multi-media, A New Day… transports audiences to a virtual world where each song shapes a universe of its own. Created by Franco Dragone, the performance is an artistic collection of powerful song and dance, fantastical imagery, reoccurring characters and special effects, including projected images that are stories high and sequences where objects and performers appear to float across the stage. The spectacle includes a cast of 50 dancers, musicians, incredible lighting effects, and the largest indoor LED screen in North America, which creates an ever-changing backdrop for the performances.

Anyway I'm thrilled to hearsuch great news. It's already next week and we will be hearing all the news from the fans there very soon. Céline will give her best this time I bet. Not like in October 2003 when she simply couldn't.

Yes, fall 2003 was the recording of the DVD and the audio CD. 5 nights were used and then scrapped.

 

Sony seems to truly acknowledged our wish list. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a magnificent final product on DVD adnd full version on BD!

Yeah, the CBS special will be stripped down to 45 minutes. It's roughly 9-10 songs from the DVD in high definition on CBS.

 

The DVD and the BD will be then fully featured concerts with much bonus as they said.

Of course. The Colloseum has HD cams installed everywhere since the very beginning. The whole show is produced in HD. Why would they not to shoot it in HD now and miss the chance to release it in BD, especially after recieved our wishlist.

That would never happen. SONY is one of the founders of BD, and wants to kill HD-DVD as soon as possible.

What are you talking about? I've always said the DVD will be out in [late] 2007 (around the same time as the English album) and before the end..

Technically, it could be anytime between March and December. Realistically it could/should be Fall '07.

No it doesn't. If it would, the press release would have mentioned it.. (for the moment) they've only mentioned "DVD". It is possible, but we'll have to wait for additional info..

I'm sure they will....or at the very least the songs that were cut.

They wouldn't've changed the show so much if there wouldn't be another show (to compare it with) on the DVD..
