Taping of A New Day... in January 2007

I wish you guys wouldn't talk so much about playback. Unless someone actually has the gospel word from the singer's mouth that she indeed does this. Cause... it is, disillusioning to say the least. 

 

I would rather live in a fantasy that my most favorite singer sings live. To me, harping on playback diminishes Celine to the world. It is saying she does not have confidence in her voice so she needs to rely on recorded perfection.

 

Having sat in the front rows many times, no one can be that good a lipping songs. It is impossible to detect it. So I tend to think it is not happening. That is not to say it may occur at times when she is doing very physical things and her back to the audience. This would be acceptable and practical. But c'mon 40% of the show? Where did you get that figure from?? No way! 

 

but first, give me an accurate quote from Celine or Rene and I will reluctantly believe it.

sorry man - celine is very good in hiding it maybe but until now we heard 7 or maybe even more performances of a new day...and the fact is : celine is singing TPOL in playback(only the first few lines live) , IACBTMN - full playback , IW - playback IGTWOS - the last long note - playback . IS - only the part from "right here right now" live however recently celine is singing this part in playback too .

the italian song - playback . MHWGO - playback and honestly this one is very obvious .

i might forgot some songs but all the hard ones r in playback - that's the fact .

That sounds great, but i hope that will be the right date. Because the people around frango dragone could not say, when the dvd will be out for the fans....

But when i hope we will get a fantastic dvd with some specials around the show.

And all the Songs must be on it.

Hmmm, never thought a petition would be taken negatively by the "team". It isn't always signed to solicit changes or due to disagreements. Petitions can be a good thing if done properly. I could see why it may be taken negatively by others, though. The important thing is how we approach this. I'm not so sure at the moment.

 

the definition of 'petition' from dictionary.com:

 

a formally drawn request, often bearing the names of a number of those making the request, that is addressed to a person or group of persons in authority or power, soliciting some favor, right, mercy, or other benefit.

 

a request made for something desired, esp. a respectful or humble request, as to a superior or to one of those in authority.

 

- multi-anglge, ability to select different angles. Seat match feature...being able to select video and audio from the perspective of a number of potential "seats"

Now that's the deal!

I forgot all about the multi-angle.. that would be great.

You could have one for the show itself, one for only Celine, etc. etc.

 

Oh perhaps you should mention that they could release 2 versions. One with only the show and perhaps some extra's and one with everything on it (2-4 discs).

Also, in time they could release clips (before the actual DVD release) on TeamCéline. And oh: perhaps a business thing: they should really release it around mid-2007. That way, the DVD could be sold in The Boutique and I know most people attending the show each night, would definately buy it..

 

As for the DVD itself.. Perhaps a "Plans for the Future" feature (at the very end). Fan/Audience interviews after the show would be nice too. A (360) tour of the Colosseum. A feature about famous celebrities who have seen the show (interviews, etc.). A tour of the Celine Boutique. Animated (w/sound) menus. A f feature about memorable moments/special events during the show's run, such as the Mother's Day/Tsunami Benefit show [2005], H.E.A.R.T. [2006], the 500th show [2006], unveiling of her wax statue [2006], etc.

 

Last, but not least, just have Fan Input!

 

Well this is all I can think of at the moment, perhaps more later [or not]..

Oh and I don't think we should call it a "petition", that might sound wrong. A "wishlist/requestlist" is more suitable IMO.

 

Btw, I just read 3 employees of WB just finished designing a disc (and requested a patent/license) that is able to have all 3 standards on it (DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD), 'coz they have 3 layers.

Yes, I would agree with that. A *wishlist* with individually signed names would really be a big hassle and it would require a lot of time. Time which we don't have.. It would be better to have it coming from one particular group. (Perhaps make a list of Celine sites (with its amount of members) that support this?)

Nah, an online petition is easy to keep track of, it doesn't need to be completed before we send it to them. It's an ongoing process. so the "team" could easily check back on its progression.

 

Oh and let's drop the playback issue, it's disrupting the flow of this thread. The chances of having a 100% live video is slim to none. You have to remember the singing must be perfect, otherwise, it won't make the final cut. The show isn't all about singing, it's about the visuals as well. You can't have the cake and eat it too. Moreover, maybe if she reherse the performances in front of a live audience *cough cough ANDHC CBS Special* then there is a chance it could be all live. That ain't going to happen here.

no . what's rude , absurd and stupid is conentrating on all of those things that have nothing to do with music or her voice .

and BTW i already wrote to sony and to some other sources , i also connected few people from various magazines(not tabloids) to let them know that 40% or so from the show is in playback so they might use their influence in the matter .

in today's world more and more artists raise their voice against the use of playback and i think celine should know that what she is doing is very wrong .

It'll look much better on an actual HDTV. Of course Celine's will have less artifiacts/noise due to less compression.

It's still not the best. Most of the caps are out of focus due to a lot movement and not so great camera angles. Video does look better than the caps, but still not even close to the best HD video quality. I hope A New Day show would be much better than that. I want a good BD release truly demonstrates the beauty of A New Day show in High-Definition video.

yep, once you experience it first hand, you wouldn't wanna go back to dvd (the first disc was released 10 years ago ) hd makes dvd looks like vhs.

I suppose it would be a waste just to not use it when they've gone to the expense of shooting it...I really wanted the 500th show to be shown cos a.) I was there, b.) because that MHWGO dress was sensational and c.) I can absolutely say that she sounded just amazing throughout the whole show.

 

But I am glad the red dress and original MHWGO dress will be shown

I truly wish they would release it BOTH in one package. Really, just for the sake of Céline's vocal credibility. No one has to sit through such vocal mediocrity especially if they release it BEFORE the new recording. :/
