Celine will sing Portuguese Songs?

Sony Music International has plans do create a compilations of hits with songs from the singer/songwriter Roberto Carlos. The songs it will be sing by other artists.

Singers like Celine Dion and Julio Iglesias are in the plans.

Roberto Carlos is a famous and important singer in Brazil, maybe the best seller Brazilian artist of all time.

He sings romantic ballads, and has a lot of good songs. But I don't think it's true. If they said she was to sing Tom Jobim, I could believe more...

I actually hope it won't happy. Céline is worth better than this. I remember another singer recorded a portuguese song (I think it was Larka) and it sounded so bad, awful accent, absolutely disgusting. For Céline's sake, I hope she never does this.

 

If she really wants to cover other people's music, she must cover Queen, like she said she would like to do. That would be awsome.

Yes, but Lara Fabian, for instance, recorded also a song in Portuguese - "Meu Grande Amor" - and her accent was excelent!

If Lara made it of course Celine can also do it.

I definately didn't like it (the Larka song) and the accent was scary. And I don't want to Céline to record anything just because it's my native language. I'm all for quality first and I don't care if it's arabic or russian.

Anyways, I don't think this will ever happen. Céline has no idea who Roberto Carlos is and this does not seem a interesting projecto for her.

a place from where she's been gone for a while.

I don't think that a portuguese song would bring Celine back to the radios in Brazil... People here doesn't care if she is singing in english, japanese... It's not the point to make sucess here...

 

Anyway, I've heard Lara Fabian's portuguese song a lot of times (cause I have the CD) and the first time I heard it, I thought: "OMG! Who is this brazilian gir singin???? It sounds soooooo much with Lara Fabian's voice!". And then when I knew it was her singin, I was just sooooooo surprised! She is really very professional and made it work. Sure, it's just my opinion.

I have a feeling you might be the first person jumping for joy and going happily crazy if this project does happen and you do hear Celine sing a beautiful and powerful Portuguese song.

 

I think we should all wait up and see the outcome of this tentative project.
