The Colour of My Love Concert has been discussed already many times that is mostly playback, etc, etc... But those songs that are live are fabulous, Celine's voice is so awesome... But why on earth did she have to lipsynch??? I don't get it... So my question is: which songs are live? In my opinion:

Love Can Move Mountains

If You Asked Me To

Ce N'etait Qu'un Reve

Where Does My Heart Beat Now

Everybody's Talkin My Baby Down (also sounds quite live, maybe she sings live and the background vocal is live but the instruments are pre-recorded???)

But I'm not sure...

The reason has been simple: Celine performance of this concert has been in september 1993 in Quebec city. At this time, The colour of My love has not released in US and Canada (the album has been released two months later) and has been a direction by Tony Greco. And the concert has been diffused in the TV in december 1993 in US and Canada, with the released of the album. Also, at this time to this concert, Celine has been in studio to recording the songs of The Colour of My Love (the album has been recording mostly between in june and the end of september 1993).

 

The concert has been released in VHS in 1995 worldwide and in 1998 in DVD in US.

I think 98% of Only One Road was lipped to the album version, but there's a bit that I'm convinced was live.

Is this concert available somewhere in HD? I have the concert on DVD, but I would love to actually have a high quality file of all of the audio from this concert.

I always thought that was strange. To add "live" after a song on a concert.

And why do they use cover photos that are not from the concert?? Those sleeves in the outfit on the cover aren't the same as in the concert. Although this isn't the only time: TC DVD has the same error - why do this?

I always thought that the album songs were lipped but the others (LCMM, IYAMT, CNQR, WDMHBN) were live. Obviously as well as ICHFILWY at the end.

I always find that very strange too. I expected everything to be live when I bought the VHS 22 years ago..

So why have it screamed/sung in every country and every show she’s ever done since it came out and was big in one country back in the early 90’s???

 

Can it not stay on the setlist for shows in Canada only as they obviously love it there? Lol

In Canada and United States, the song has been a commercial success. The song peaked in number 2 in Canada and number 36 in US and the song and the video help Celine to gained a new teenager public at this time, different to the three first music video released in the self-titled, the three first single of the album has been the ballad. This song also help to continued the success in the charts of the self-titled in US and Canada. The song has been a commercial success in the dance charts (due of the structure of the song, sealing with pop and RnB). And also, the music video (very colored) has been a very good diffusion in MTV, Much Music and other tv channels.

Well I cared , that’s why I asked! And I still believe this one was live too. The vocals are different to the album track. Just my opinion, if you don’t care then don’t comment 😃

I just took the time to watch the DVD by skipping little bit. There has been discussions about it several times on this forum, so I wanted to check.

 

All the songs from "The Colour of My Love" album are studio versions and lipped. For example, The song "Everybody's Talkin' My Baby Down" has a fade out and therefore it sounds and looks pretty bizarre on the stage. The song "Only One Road" is a slightly different studio version (some differences in arrangements).

 

All other songs are live. That includes "Love Can Move Mountains" (no fade-out! - a response to celine4evauk's question).

 

I wonder if it's possible that all the songs were sung live at the concert, but the studio tracks were added later.

TCOML 'The Concert' isn't really a concert, but it was recorded as a TV-special for the Disney channel. I should have the press release somewhere, but don't ask me for it now, cos after I moved my collection still needs sorting! LOL

 

ANYWAY, using the album tracks for all the TCOML songs was logical as it was a TV special and they were promoting the new album. I remember that a member posted wayyy ago that Céline sang more old hits like D'Abord C'Est Quoi L'Amour etc. live that night/day, but those never made it to the video. I wonder if that's true.

 

It's a real shame we never got an official video of the early tours.

Yes, you are right. I forgot about that it was a Disney channel special. I always wondered how come that Céline didn't sing any other French song (except CNQR) and spoke in English while the show was in Quebec.

It was probably because the special was filmed for an american TV channel and I would say that the main goal of the TV show was to focus on Celine's anglophone career. I agree that singing more French songs would have made sense, but at the same time it would have been a bit weird since the goal of the show was to support her international career as the Francophone one was already stablished.

Is this different studio version on any of the My Love releases? I believe I've heard a different studio version somewhere but don't know where.

 

I kinda miss Only One Road. And just like it was so nice to hear TCOML on the last tour it would be interesting to hear it live after all these years. To me it isn't neceserally a love song but more of an existantial statement where the "leads me back to you" could be speaking to one's inner core or soul, and could even be seen as a religious statement where the "you" could be the belief, Jesus, God etc...

 

Anyway I used to see OOR as Céline's own My Way... but it has dissapeared somewhere along the way.

Wdmhbn and iyamt are lipped to their usual playbacks. Lcmm, cnqr, and can't help falling in love are all three sung live. I never noticed differences in only one road before so I'll have to check that out.

Even though it was lipped, I was so glad ETMBD made it on the setlist. I’d love it if she resurrected it during the Asia-Pacific tour. Maybe replace LIAWN with it.

I’d love if she did like ETMBD/Unison (or something similar)/One Heart. Something like that would be a different sort of uptempo medley.
