I just watched the beautiful and touching speech that Celine gave at the Nevada Ballet Gala in 2004 when she was honored as Woman of the Year. She was absolutely goddess-like that evening. But I want to give you a few information on that evening. Well, let's start off with the press release:

Nevada Ballet Theatre Honors 'Woman of the Year,' Celine Dion at Caesars Palace

The Black & White Ball Is Sponsored by Cartier and Wells Fargo

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Blessed with one of popular music's

most celebrated voices, she has become the world's top-selling female

recording artist.  She is Celine Dion and Nevada Ballet Theatre's "Woman of

the Year" for 2004.

Dion will be honored on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Nevada Ballet

Theatre's annual Black & White Ball in the Palace Ballroom at Caesars Palace.

The organization expects more than a thousand people in attendance at its

largest fundraiser, which honors a prominent "Woman of the Year" who has made

a significant contribution to the performing arts and also has a connection to

Las Vegas.

Celine Dion had a smashing debut this year in Las Vegas with the opening

of her show, "A New Day ... " at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and performs

for sold-out audiences five nights a week.

"Las Vegas is a fantastic city and is truly the heart of show business,"

said Dion.  "This show has given me the opportunity to perform a more visually

exciting show in front of international audiences nightly as well as spend

time with my family."

This year's honorary chair of the Black and White Ball is Jacqueline

Juliano, wife of Mark Juliano, president of Caesars Palace.  Mr. and Mrs.

Juliano relocated to Las Vegas with their five children and have encouraged

their daughter to take part in the premier performing arts programs of Nevada

Ballet Theatre.

Generously sponsored by Cartier and Wells Fargo, Nevada Ballet Theatre's

Black & White Ball will feature a four-course gourmet menu and dancing to an

ensemble orchestra.  In addition to the celebrity tribute to Celine Dion,

there will be a performance by NBT dancers, including principals Kyu Dong Kwak

and Natalia Chapourskaya.

Tables prices are: $3,500 Silver, $5,000 Gold, $10,000 Platinum, and

$25,000 for Celine Diamond tables.  The Celine Diamond table will feature the

opportunity to attend a private reception in a Caesars suite at 6:30 p.m.

including a "meet and greet" with Celine Dion and celebrities as well as many

other VIP benefits.  The gala will commence at 7:00 p.m. with dinner being

served at 8:30 p.m.  For more information or table reservations, please

contact Barbara George, Director of Development of Nevada Ballet Theatre at

(702) 243-2623, ext. 228.

Well, the Nevada Ballet Theatre board is quite smart in getting Celine to come and for getting this event to happen! As you can see, they invited Mrs. Jacqueline Juliano to be the honorary chair of their board. For sure, they got Caesar's to sponsor their facility. And, because Celine is part of the Caesars Palace family, Mrs. Juliano, of course, will get Celine to come. And next to that, notice that Celine, that evening, was wearing jewelry donated by Cartier (one of two principal sponsors for the evening).

Regardless, I am still touched by the speech.

Celine felt that the award was so amazing because she could share it with her dancers, which I feel was quite sweet :) . Normally, awards like these are to honor people who have been in a certain place for a long time and have contributed to the culture and arts of that place. Celine, felt honored, because she has only been there for a little bit, but she has made a big difference for Las Vegas. I remember that before Celine came to Vegas, there were many reports about the slumping industry in Vegas. It seems that as soon as Celine came to Vegas, the place was bustling again. And now, she owns even more stakes in Caesars, with her club PURE as the HOTTEST club in Vegas, attracting fashion shows, celebrity parties, album launches, etc. at least one time each week! This is not a coincidence, I believe that Celine has a big role in the current success of Las Vegas!
