Celine's sales

We all know that celine's latest english albums have not been quite succesful compared to her 90's records. However, according to wikipedia ANDHC sold over 13 million, OH over 7 million, and Miracle over 5 million. So then, I don't think they have been a flop. I mean, even miracle and one heart have sold more albums than Mariah's Emancipation outside US. And yes, those numbers can't be compared with the 32 million sold by falling into you, but times are different and no artist sales those figures nowadays. Moreover, sony's investment in promotion has been quite poor, which is why we haven't had big hits. So I really think that those sales haven't been for sony's support, but for the fact that they're Celine Dion albums, and that in itself sales!

 

My point is why consider them big flops?

There is no flop on Celine's career.

Of course she sells less nowadays BUT for me big flops are albums like "Glitter" (Mariah) or "Just Whitney" (W. Houston) that only sold 2 millions all over the world.

but u know they never really promote this album...

for eg here in new zealand or australia they don't even promote it they just release it and let it sell by itself... stupid thing..

and when they play the music video of you and i on tv they don't even say which album it's the song from...... so if it only sell like few hundred here in NZ it's not surprising at all..

Gee, big surprise. The track list was horrible, Celine sounded horrible, and they never really tried to push it at all. I mean if they had included "The Power Of Love" (playback or not) and "I Surrender" more people probably would have bought it. Not to mention they could have easily had "I Surrender (Live)" as the first single to promote the album. Morons is all I can think of to say. LOL

The Live in Vegas album was just a horrible representation of what she's capable of live. So that's why I consider it a failure. She still outsings many on this CD...but it just isn't an accurate portrayal of her live vocal power.

 

..and it's freaking amazing how many albums Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love sold!!

So in the 90's, before the big d/ling and burning wave hit, the top sellers from that decade sold about 30 million. Does anyone know what number equals that big of sales today? I know albulms dont sell as much, so I was just wondering what number in 2006 coincides with a super big success like the 30 million from the 90's? (i hope that made sense lol)

I think "The Emancipation of Mimi" sold 8 million copies worlwide (5 millions only in the US).

 

Celine with a good album and a good promotion can easilly re-conquer the world. People still respect her.

 

She just need to innovate on her next release. An English album with the quality of her latest French ones is what she needs.

I agree about how people still respect Celine. She's made smart career choices, she sounds the best live out of all the "divas" of the 90s, and she is just classy. So I think that a quality English album will explode on the charts like they used to!
