CSCfan Posted July 25, 2006 at 08:43 AM Posted July 25, 2006 at 08:43 AM Khan, Black and Bolton on Fox's 'Duets' Mon Jul 24, 6:20 PM ET Chaka Khan, Clint Black and Michael Bolton are among the pop stars who will be part of "Celebrity Duets," a new Fox TV show that pairs singers and celebrities trying to prove they can carry a tune. The series, debuting with a two-hour episode 8 p.m. EDT Aug. 29, is an elimination contest in the style of "American Idol," with judges and viewers deciding the fate of the celebrities. Other singers taking part: Cyndi Lauper, Smokey Robinson, Dionne Warwick, Brian McKnight, Macy Gray, Patti LaBelle, Kenny Loggins, Richard Marx, Randy Travis and Aaron Neville. More pop stars will be joining the show, Fox said Monday at a Television Critics Association meeting. The celebrity participants have yet to be announced. Composer-arranger David Foster, who has worked with Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand and whose stepsons were in the Fox's reality series "The Princes of Malibu," will be among the judges. After its premiere, the series will move to its regular 9 p.m. Eastern time slot beginning Sept. 7. How fantastic would it be if Celine would be on this show! Yes Celine should be apart of this new show, and I think she will if David Foster has anything to do with it...and this show isn't cheesy at all b/c all of these singers are impressive or legends!!! And oh my Brian McKnight and Richard Marx is surely gonna be on the show ....I haven't seen or heard from Richard in a minute ....I'm definately setting my DVR!!! Most of these people have not had a hit for years...so it's their way of getting back in the spotlight. Celine is still doing her Vegas show, and after that she's taking another break...so I don't think she'll be a part of the show. Even though, I would love seeing her every week....I still don't think it would be a smart career move. She would start to be called a "has been". Quote

I mean, these artists are still celebrities anyway and I don't think it would be nice to have them get criticised by judges and be ELIMINATED. They are no longer amateurs, they have been around for years (despite of not having anymore hit singles currently). Just.. BAD IDEA. Pleaseeeeeeee I hope they don't ask Celine Dion to COMPETE.
