It was on the amazing sitcom called "Mad about you" that I first fell in love with her work...She played Jamie, which is one of my fave characters of all times...

I just love her performances on the movies "Pay it forward" and especially "As good as it gets".

She's now a little away from showbusiness, her last movie was made in 2004, ("A good woman").

What do you think about Helen?

I agree, I've always liked her. I like her voice and the way that she talks. I loved her when i was a kid and used to watch Mad About You. I still sometimes catch re-runs and I just have to watch them!

Pay it Forward was an awesome movie, but I really liked her in As Good As it Gets. And yes, she is HOT!!!

She was on the Ellen show last year with Paul Reiser for the first time together in many years, they played a game called "who said that?" and Ellen read a line from the show and they had to guess if it was Helen or Paul that said that. Next, Ellen would read a line and Helen and Paul would have to finish it or say the next line, or say why they said that or what show it was. Helen was right on the mark! Paul didn't do as well.

It's so interesting that you've started this topic, because I've started this exact same topic in other forums!

I think Helen Hunt was brilliant on Mad About You. That show was so clever and it will always be remembered. The funny thing about Mad About You is that everyone loved Helen, but not everyone liked Paul. I liked him and his character just fine on the show...he was supposed to be annoying! However, I think that's what kept the show from becoming a true phenomenon like Friends or Seinfeld. Helen carried the show, along with the supporting cast.

I also think it's great that she won Emmy's for that show...very much deserved. I believe Paul and Helen were the first two actors on a TV series to be paid one million dollars per episode. WOW.

Her performances in movies have impressed me very much as well. As Good As It Gets was just "as good as it gets"! She deserved the Academy Award(and this is hard for me to say since I was rooting for Kate Winslet in Titanic). I see Helen winning another Academy Award within the next decade with an older role.

My favorite performance of Helen's was in Cast Away. The scene out by his car when she says "you were the love of my life" just gets me everytime.

Anyway, I think Helen Hunt is a real person with a huge talent and I hope she continues to share it with the world.

And you know what else is weird? I always think of Celine when I see Helen. And I also think of the year 1996. I guess maybe because that was a huge year for Falling Into You and for Mad About You...and they resemble each other a little. What else is similar??

I agree completely with you regarding to Helen's talent and charisma!!

But...poor Paul! I do think he's very important to MAY, he created it, he made the song "The Final Frontier", he was totally involved with the whole production of the series...And I feel that he's perfect for the role. Who else would match just as perfect with Helen in that neurotic-but-cute way of the Buchmans??

Hahahaha...this is funny, because I feel the same way...actually it's not only Helen who makes me think about Celine (many people do! :mdr: )

But anyway...

They've got some little things in common indeed...They won an Oscar in the same night; they are the same height; they both can be funny...and other things that just can't be put in words...

So look at these pics and take your own conclusions... but everything is very subtle...

Notice that, in the first pic, you may take a few seconds to realize if it's Celine or Helen... :lmao:

Oh, I completely agree about Paul. I know the show would never have happened without him..since he started it! However, it's a shame that so many people dislike him....but he was perfect for the role. So strange!

And thanks for posting those pictures! You can definitely see the similarities. And if you just go through and look at a bunch of different pictures of each of them, then you can tell even more of their common physical traits.

I'm looking forward to the 'Bobby' movie to be released where Helen will join Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Enthony Hopkins and Ashton Cutcher. The cast is just amazing and I hope the film will be good, too. Sharon & Demi in the same film...

That sounds interesting. I hope it's a good film too. Sharon needs a good film these days...and the only thing I can remember Demi doing in the last few years was Charlie's Angels. :shocking:

She does. However, she's an amazing actress, too. She's just been not lucky commercially recently. :ermm: Though 'Cold Creek Mountain' was quite a success.

Haven't you seen 'Half Light'? The film is nothing really special but not bad though. I saw it twice. :)

P.S Sorry 4 offtop. :blushing:

The last episode of Mad About You came on today...then the pilot episode came on. Wow. That show was of such quality. I miss quality television like that. Outstanding writing and acting. It was just one of those magical shows.

Anyway, I looked up some info. on Helen....this is from Wikipedia. The part that really interests me is where it talks about her awards. She won best actress four years in a row!! And she won every award there was to win in 1998! Amazing.

Hunt began her career in the 1970s as a child actress. Her early roles included an appearance as Murray Slaughter's daughter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and a regular role in the television series Swiss Family Robinson. She appeared as a marijuana smoking classmate on an episode of The Facts of Life. She also memorably appeared as a young woman who, while on LSD, jumps out of a second story window in a 1982 after school special called Desperate Lives.

In the 1990s, Hunt became well-known to television audiences as co-star of sitcom Mad About You with screen partner Paul Reiser, winning Emmy Awards for her performance in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999. By the end of the show in 1999, Hunt was the highest paid TV actress in history, earning $1 million per episode.

Hunt has also had a successful film career and has been in Hollywood movies such as Cast Away and the 1996 blockbuster Twister. After winning an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1998 for her performance in As Good as It Gets, she took time off from movie work to play Viola in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at the Lincoln Center in New York City.

In 2000, Hunt returned to the screen in four films: Dr. T & the Women with Richard Gere, Pay It Forward with Kevin Spacey & Haley Joel Osment, What Women Want with Mel Gibson, and Cast Away with Tom Hanks. In 2003, she returned to Broadway in Yasmina Reza's Life x 3. She currently owns a production company with Connie Tavel, Hunt/Tavel Productions under Sony.

In 2006, Hunt will appear in the film Bobby, which is scheduled for a November 22 release. She is also scheduled to start filming Then She Found Me, with Woody Harrelson and Diane Keaton, which she will direct as well as star.

Hunt holds many awards records. She is the only actress to win a Golden Globe Award, an Academy Award and an Emmy Award in the same year (1998), the only actress to win four consecutive Emmys, and the only actress to win four Blockbuster Entertainment Awards.

An interesting information! Anyway, she deserves every award she has ever won.

Helen happens to be a fabulous actress indeed!

One thing that I admire very much is her ability of changing emotions suddenly...

She does that in "As good as it gets" in the perfect tone...

There's this scene in which her character is talking to her mom, complaining a lot and crying really hard, and asks "What do you want??WHAT??!"

And her mom goes like "I wanted to go out..."

Then Helen's character stops crying and gets a little embarrassed, and says just "...ok" in the perfect tone, really funny!! :lmao:

(this scene was shown in the Oscar's evening)

Helen deals really well with funny roles, but with dramatic ones as well...

I think she can blend drama and comedy in the accurate proportion, and that requires plenty of talent...

Even in "Mad about you"...Though it's a comedy, there were a lot of emotional, romantic or dramatic moments...Their almost-divorce, their daughter Mabel's birth, and especially the two last episodes were full of emotion. Helen and Paul were fantastic in these situations...

There were different roles to which Helen adapted easily as well..."Twister", "What women want" and "Cast away" demanded different skills from her.

I wish she were acting nowadays just as often as she used to!!

And I'd love to watch her acting on stage too... :in_love:

Anyway, here's another pic of hers...I hope you'll like it, I myself found it so cute!!
