Yup - that's right!

 

Andrea Corr, of Irish (family)band The Corrs, is launching a solo career..

And no, don't worry, the band won't split up!

 

Her first solo album, titled "Present", will be out in September/October this year and is produced by Nellee Hooper (U2, Bjork, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Whitney Houston). The album will be a "mixture of everything", so not just pop..

 

Also, a promotional film will be produced to accompany the release of the album, which will intersperse Andrea's observations on the making of the album with live performances of some of the key tracks (9 tracks), just on voice and piano! This was shot a few weeks ago in a small theatre in London.

True, but not in this case.. Especially coz their all family, so they can't really "split up"..lol The main reason why's she going solo, is because all the other members of the band are currently occupied with their own families (all of them have kids now and are maried, or will be getting married)..except for Andrea.

For a second, I forgot that they're related, and that they're SIBLINGS!

Yes, I sure hope that they will remain as close as possible throughout their lives. Family is such a gift

I think there's also a very good chance I'll buy it, but if I really don't like the songs/music/style (which I kinda doubt), I guess I won't buy it..

 

But at least she's not turning into a Britney or something, and of course she'll play the piano & writes her own songs..

i love the corrs, in my herat they're almost on the same level with celine and shania...

 

and actually i wasn't disappointed at all by this news, i heard the first roumors about it a couple of weeks ago, and i just can't wait to see my sweetheart singing on her own!!!!

 

tho i'll miss sharon like hell...

I'm very curious about Adnrea's solo album and am patiently waiting for it's release. I'll probably buy it right away, cause there aren's many Corrs songs I don't like.

But then again Andrea could have turned into a whole other direction...

Hmmm, maybe it's wise to listen first!

When is the album coming out?

It was supposed to be released in Sept/Oct (but "officially" nothing was set yet), but it's delayed to early next year (prob. Jan/Feb)..

There will be a mix of styles..

The title of one track was already revealed, "Molly Bloom"..it's supposed to be a very catchy song..

 

But Atlantic is keeping very numb about this..

SOLO ANDREA SET TO BE RUNAWAY HIT

Singer Andrea Corr is reportedly gearing up for a 50-date European Tour in a bid to launch her solo career. The 32 year-old star is said to be planning a series of high-profile concerts, even thought work on her first album hasn't even been completed yet.

 

The sultry brunette has been bombarded with offers from top promoters desperate to sign her up for lucrative solo tour next spring. The Dundalk singer said recently how she was considering a break from her chart-topping siblings and thinking about starting a solo project.

 

PROMOTERS

She has been performing with sisters Caroline and Sharon and brother Jim from an early age and collectively, the band have scored a string of hits worldwide. But music insiders reckon Andrea, who has taken time out previously to pursue some acting projects, has enough star quality to go it alone.

 

“She could easily make 1m euro from a string of sell-out dates if the demand is there”, said a source close to the star. “All the promoters reckon Andrea will be one of the biggest tours next year. She has never done anything like this before and the fans are really excited about what she’s going to come out with”.

 

“At this stage, it looks likely there will be up to 50 shows at various venues around Ireland, the UK and Europe”. It is also believed that Andrea’s record company is gearing up to invest a fortune in promoting the album. A team of top stylists, publicists and music directors will be hired for the release of the upcoming album and tour.

 

The source continued: “Andrea is putting everything she has got into this album and it’s already shaping up to be a real classic. She has to come out with something that’s completely different to anything the Corrs have done in the past. The plan in to release the album amid a blaze of publicity and get it to the top of the charts around the world. We’ll also see a new-look Andrea as she takes her first big step towards solo stardom. People are going to be really surprised by what she comes out with”.

 

But despite all her solo plans, Andrea has insisted that it won’t spell the end for the family group. “We’re all taking a break to do our own things but we’ll definitely be back together for more albums and tours in the future”, she said. “I’m working on my solo album now and it’s been great fun”. Next month sees the Dundalk stars releasing “Dreams – The Ultimate Corrs Collection” on November 20th. As well as the band’s greatest hits, the track list will include remixes of Goodbye and When the Stars Go Blue featuring U2 frontman Bono while Ronnie Wood performs on Ruby Tuesday.

The entire album (except for 'Take Me I'm Yours' by Squeeze) has been written by Andrea and will be produced by Nellee Hooper who has previously work with U2, Gwen Stefani and Bjork. Wow. This is great news. I love The Corrs. I wonder if Andrea's CD will still have the same sort of feel as The Corrs albums did. Just one question, when it is summer over there?
