Listen To Me could have been a hige hit

But the dorks haven't released it of course. The movie itself was not THAT bad. Céline could have her first English hit already in 1989! But no, they didn't bother.

It's sucha nice song that could have paved her success three years prior to Beatuy And The Beast.

Hmm ok, I thought he perhaps meant Écoutez-Moi..

Do you have more information about that song? Was it recorded, was it released, on which album is it, etc.? Thanks :)

Yes, it was recorded and released on the soundtrack CD of the movie. I'm listening to it right now. :giggle:

Yes, you are right, all 3 songs you mentioned could have been hits if promoted properly.

If you are talking about Celine's duet with Warren Wiebe, you should know that it was recorded in 1993 ; it was also released on a very rare promotional tape ("Celebration") sold in some chain of stores throughout the USA (I don't remember the name now). The cover had a very, very beautiful photo of Celine on a pink background - which you can see below.

The people who bought then are quite lucky, because it's not even available anymore.

Celebration / Celine Dion

(Sony Mucic Canada, 1992)

Catalog number (CAN): 18SP3766

Track: Listen To Me

Listen To Me (David Foster - Linda Thompson) - lyrics

Father, listen to me I'm a lot like you

I miss live my life and lived it through

Like you said you have to do

Mother, listen to me there's so much to tell

It's some words -- to listen well

When the pain is coming through

Lover

Life is closing in from everywhere

There's so little time to show we care

Say the words that show our hearts

Chorus:

Won't you listen to me

Knowing how we fall

Listen to me

Knowing love is all

I am in you

And you are in me

Through each other's eyes

We see

Listen to me

Hold me

I will hold you

Listen to me while I speak my heart

You can talk to me

We're all looking for a place to start

Where we tell the truth again

Tell the truth again

Love me

Listen to me, life is not that long

And we don't have the time to get it wrong

Let's believe and let's begin

Let's begin

Won't you listen to me

For we know how we fall

Listen to me

Knowing love is all

I am in you

And you are in me

Through each other's eyes

We see

Listen to me

Listen to me

For we know how we fall

Listen to me

Knowing love is all

I am in you

And you are in me

Through each other's eyes

We see

Just how good our lives could be

Through each other's eyes

We see Listen to me

Listen to me

Listen to me...

im not convinced LISTEN TO ME was recorded in 1993...

i recall watching that move when i was in grade 10, which would date it back to 1990-1991, so i have to assume that the song LISTEN TO ME was in fact recorded as early as 1989 (perhaps even 1988!)...

also, listen to CELINE's heavy french accent in LISTEN TO ME; she was much more produced in 1990 with UNISON...

as for the cassette CELEBRATION, i must assume that it was released in 1992 and handed out as a promotion at EATON's stores across the country...

i used to own to many early CELINE singles (unison, beauty and the beast, celebration, nothing broken but my heart), and i've not encountered them in years...

go figure...

Oh, my mistake then: it was recorded in '88 or '89 and released on "Celebration" in 1992. A great song, no question about it.

Sorry to bring back an old topic but i have only just found out about this tape and something is confusing me!!

As far as i can tell there was a cassette made back in 1988/89 called celebration with the duet with Warren Wiebe(listen to me) on it (click here to see website i found it on) scroll down to celebration cassette. BUT even more suprising to me was the fourth track!!!! Is this a typo?? can anyone who actually ownes this tape tell me if the fourth track is halway to heaven or halfway to heaven??

I trawled through some other sites and one said it was a 1992 release? which date is right?surely the song was released with the film? so were all these songs recorded before 1990??

oooooooohhhhhhh im sooooooo confused!

CHOCOLATE is the answer....I don't give a damn what the question was!

ok its starting to make a little more sense.I thought the cassette was out with the film(1989).Sooooo i was getting a little excited because i thought maybe halfway to heaven was recorded before celine dion album??That would have been a big scoop to me in my little celine dion world :D
