I'm also greek and I've faced the same problem with you especially when I was going to the school. My friends didn't like her a lot. But, growing older, I understood that there is nothing to be ashamed of in loving somebody. There are always some reasons for this! So, the people who don't like her, they can say whatever they want, because there're blind to our reasons for loving her! But I don't think the problem is so big! The media in Greece don't show her a lot [ex: MAD channel doesn't play her clips all the time etc], but I've never heard them calling her "satanic" or something. Posted July 9, 2006 at 05:50 AM Posted July 9, 2006 at 05:50 AM has anyone even taken the time to ask her where she is from (the person who created this thread)? i am curious... and, in all honestly, yes, there are tons of people here in CANADA (where i'm from) who mock CELINE (damn them!), but, whenever this occurs, i always manage to TRAP them when i say: "well, there is one thing no one can deny: the girl can sing"... to that, there is no argument... then i get into, "and also, in such a way that she makes people FEEL what she is singing; sure, she's from QUEBEC, and sure, her english accent remains, but damn, she sings with so much emotion that she just gets across to people"... that's what i like the most about CELINE... she's positively brilliant in that sense! - ANewDay...

Greek People Dont like Celine?!?!?! It is fool!! Celine has always been extra-super-duper succesful in Greece! There are few people that dont like her, that it is logical!Most greek people adore her. I think so many people hate her because, on the other hand, so many love her. Here in Canada , it's been said many times that anglophones like to bash on her because she is from Québec. On Canada day , a song called ' Canadian Please' was created, and it says I know you wanna be canadian ... 'we're sorry about Celine Dion but she did sing that great song for James Cameroun'. at 1:40 I dont know why greeks would hate Celine but maybe its because its debated that Nana Mouskouri is actually the biggest selling female artist of all time .
