I hate to say it, but I really detest both of these songs. They're some of the most boring songs of Celine's career. Just my opinion. But, I've always been curious as to what the majority of Celine's fanbase feels.

Yeah, "If I Were You" does have a relaxing feel to it. However, it just doesn't have any "power." At least not to me. Though, I do imagine Celine as a ballarina or a dancer in a musicbox whenever I listen to it.

I'm quite okay with the fact it doesn't have any 'power'.. I was thinking about it earlier today.. Most of Celine's songs have 'power' (or big notes)..so it's kinda nice to have some songs that are more relaxed, without 'big power'.. 'If I Were You' is one of them, or 'Where Is The Love'..:)

I really love those songs.

But I prefer "I remember L.A.", for me it's very emotional... I used to cry with that song (and I still do).

i really like I Remember L.A more

however I can still remember one i first heard If I were you and I could have swore I heard it some where else, but I never found out how.

I find them both beautiful. There is a quality in her voice with both of these songs that I adore...a soft and silky quality. I don't always need to hear her belting something powerful.

I would take "IIWY" over her entire Miracle album anyday...and I always think of it as having a lullaby type sound. I also like the meaning of it more than the same old lost love meaning from "IRL.A.". So I guess I'll go with "IIWY"

I don't know...I like them both.

I agree with what all of you have said. It's just in my opinion a power note doesn't have to mean a long, belted out, high or low note. It can be a note somewhere in the middle but that has some emotion to it. Maybe it's just because I don't care for either one of the songs, but I just don't feel anything when I listen to them. It's the same for me with "Papillon," "Le memoire d'Abraham," and "Tu nages." They just seem like filler/sleeper tracks to me. I'd much rather listen to something like "Sleep Tight," "Come To Me," or "En attendant ses pas." ::shrugs:: Just my thing I suppose. :)

Well, if you love "Your Light" I can see why you'd say that, Joseph!!

I love the slower, "sleeper" songs. I enjoy putting on the headphones and exploring the artisty, subtlety, and emotion that comes through those songs...the light plucking of the guitar, the soft hum of the ambience, the tinkle of the percussion in the background, the gentle essence and colours of Celine's voice mingling with the instruments. It's on a different level of care, intimacy, and 'touch' than faster songs. "IIWY", "Papillon", "RNVF", "TFTEISYF", "LMD'A"...I love them. I actually wish there were more...these songs can really be "moments" instead of the usual fair that rushes in and out of your ears.

Happy sigh...

:shocking: I really can't believe you saying you're not feeling anything listening to "Tu Nages". Especially this one has a lot of feeling inside! Is it maybe because of the language? I don't know! I'd suggest you to give it one more try :flowers:

Between IIWY and IRLA, I prefer a bit more IRLA! It's more emotional and nostalgic! IIWY has great lyrics although! So, I love them both!!! :D

Definitely If I Were You ... I have lived that song ... lived those words ... sometimes the words themselves are powerful enough without needing any extra emphasis ...

Nah, it's not the language thing. There's a lot of Celine's songs that I don't understand, but that I love with all my heart...both fast and slow. "Tu nages" just seems to drag on forever without ever getting anywhere - to me that is. I really love some of Celine's early Canadian songs that don't really go into the massive high notes. Another song of hers that I really like is "L'abandon."

And I know I'm probably going to get hung for this, but I don't see what the big deal is about "Where Is The Love." I can see why it was axed from the LTAL album in Australia and Mexico. Just my opinion.

I won't axe you...not great song...words are too strange...precocious...don't like her voice...could have been better...

Definetely IIWY. It has a eerie smooth sound about it. I too have lived this song. I love donning on the headphones and listening to the silky smooth tones in her voice. It is great, even though she is not belting out a powerful number............. IIWY is what I voted for :bye1:

The beautiful songs aren't the songs with big notes, it depends on the emotions which come from them....However in Papillon Celine hits a couple of big notes.... :D

In my opinion Tu Nages is a very peaceful song because it's got the sound of water like in a pool or in the sea...it's just wonderful!

I prefer I Remeber L.A. I just love the "story" of the song. I have to admit that I haven't listened to If I Were You that well, but I will right now. ;)

Okay, I just listened to it again with lyrics, but I still don't feel it. Great lyrics, but it drags on too long for me.

:in_love: I just love If I Were You it´s a beautiful low tempo ballad very relaxing and shows Celine´s lower key range,, Magical she can sing anything and make magic. :innocent: Celine´s voice is angelic and the most beautiful voice i have ever heard in my life.

I like both songs, I find them melancholic and powerful through the message, not necesarilly through the voice ~ still, I chose "If I were you" because indeed it has something magical. and more, when she is singing it you almost feel like she's talking to you directly. She's not (yet) the inaccesible high-long-note diva of TPOL or ABS. It's the real deal ...

remember how Celine said that during the recording of the self-titled album she felt more at home than ever?...
