As I'm sure many of you know, Celine took a break from the music industry when she was 16/17 years old - to change her image. Rene believed that in order for her to be a successful adult star, that her fans and the press had to change compelely in their view of her - they viewed her still as a child so, in essence they had to forget the child and become acquainted with the woman. Thus she took a year or so off, changed her image to be more grown-up and, whereas previoulsy she had held her microphone in her right hand, from now on she held it in her left hand - using her right to express herself in a different way. Another symbolic gesture to show she had changed and matrued. Quote
