I'm just listening to some of Take That's old songs...and I strangely confess they are like ten thousand times better than ANYTHING that you hear on the radio nowadays. You actually sense the quality they have put into their music.

 

"Pray" is so great with its vocal harmonies. Where has all the good radio music gone now?

But Merlin, Take That weren't nearly as successful in North America as they were in Europe - whole Europe was like RAVING and in literal FEVER. Truly, they are like the biggest boyband ever here.

So, I suppose the closest thing to Take That would have been "New Kids On The Block" over here...same time period I think. Gawd I hated the New Kids!! I hope the music from Take That was at least a little more mature and respectable in the music industry, and not trash like the 'Kids'...though I bet not.

I can upload some of Take That's songs for you. I mean they have fast paced dance numbers and Céline-like mellow ballads, but really really nice.

"Relight My Fire" = Disco hit no.1 across whole Europe feat. a very old British singer Lulu

wow never heard of take that the biggest thing in england after the beatles, they are great i have just been to there welcome back tour it was great its like they never quit, it would have been great if Rob had have turned up in person

 

 

 

I hate the early pictures above, they were meant to attract the gay community, but they were that big they ended up being able to be what they are and not made to dress in all that kinky gear <thank god>

I have to say, Take That were imho the best boyband of the last 2 decades. They blew anything America could throw at us away! Bozone, Westlife*shudder*.... or any of those other bands that have since come (and mostly gone) could not hold a candle to them. Robbie Williams (though it pains me to say it) is very, very good at what he does.... and in Gary Barlow you have one of the greatest and most successful song writers of his generation!

I have one live concert on vhs, Live In Berlin or something..it is a great show.
