well...to be honest with you...i simply love Lara's version of course Celine is the best of the best...but still...i think Lara didi a very good job!

Guys, don't go wild! Celine is always Celine and we can also like other artists too! Lara Fabian is a great artist! She has admitted loving Celine and having her albums. If she's been compared to Celine many times, it's because of the kind of music she does, which sometimes is very close to Celine's style(power ballads, high notes etc). But, if you watch Lara's "En Toute Entimite" DVD, you will understand that there's a lot of differences. I think Lara chose Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore because it's among the classics of Celine's french songs. Her rendition had to be different because: 1) Lara didn't want to be compared to Celine for one more time (and so she seems trying hard to sing it in a completely different way) and 2) the concept of the show is more acoustic (that's why she's singing it only with a piano). I believe it was a good try anyway and also a way for Lara to show her love for Celine. Watch it with pure heart and no fanatism.

THANK YOU i'm glad someone see the things clear here! Lara is a great singer as powerfull as celine they do the same kind of music because they have a voice for it! Look, Celine doesn't write her songs but that doen't mean that she is less an artist! She "knows" music - she plays the piano very well, and she can write songs (she co-wrote Tout Pres Du Bonheur, Don't Save It All For Christmas Day, Ce N'Etait Qu'Un Reve...). As for her songs, she selects what to record - of course, some people offer her songs to choose from.

Lara does it almost all by herself and the result is completely hers. But as you may know, she needs to collaborate too (Jean-Felix Lalanne, Rick Allison).

I personally think Celine would be flattered by this performance.

 

 

IN a way, this performance is a "tribute to Celine" because it's the song that most French listeners associate with Celine. However, I think Lara turned this song into sort of a cabaret act because of the pauses and spoken words!

People always say Lara has so much emotion in her voice - I can hear it. Like her version of LBDB..Céline captured the emotions a hell of a lot better than Lara did..yet people always say "Oh she is so emotional!" Well I'm emotional all the time too, no one's offering me a record contract

Second-> she was the first person that sang this song, and it's stays on our mind

That is why I never liked her. I feel no emotion whatsoever coming from her. It's like a corpse singing. Some people might think she has a lot of emotion but I can't honestly feel it.

Anyways, I don't like it. I didn't like the Il Divo version either. I loved them, I loved their albums but they murdered this song.
