The showed the trailer during the previews at The Da Vinci Code. It looks very very good. I saw United 93 a few weeks ago and thought it was extremely good so I'm really looking forward to this one.

I don't know what to say about this film. It is a really sensitive subject for many people, especially those who lost loved ones from this unbelieveable event in human history. There were so many people that had stories to share, and then there's this story of two men who survived the tragedy and there's a film made about them. I guess I will have to see the whole film to make any remarks. However, as of now, I must say that I just got misty eyed from watching the trailer. The musical score from this film got my heart pounding - it is absolutely sad, nostalgic, powerful and beautiful at the same time!

I agree i can't believe they are making another movie about 9/11. I didn't even know about it until now. Is this going to be another re-enactment? Wasn't flight 93 enough? I didn't get to see the trailors.

 

My father is a NYC fireman who was there on that day. He was in tower 1 when 2 came down and was almost crushed to death along with 343 other firefighters from the FDNY. I'll never forget sitting in school not knowing what was going on and wondering if I'd ever see him again.

 

I think it is important to remember 9/11, but to have to keep reminding those of us who lived it first hand, to remind us of the pain all over again, and for people like my dad who was there who can't stand to see images of the planes in the towers on tv, and for the children who lost parents (I've met many families in this situation and let me tell you, it is absolutely heartbreaking), and for anyone affected by this tragedy, this movie will be a difficult one. When the commercials for flight 93 came on tv my dad would yell to turn it off. It will be hard for him to have to face more reminders in the coming months as this movie approaches.

 

In my opinion, and you may disagree with me, I think some of the filmmakers are just looking to profit from 9/11. Documentaries have been made already. I'm sorry for rambling, but from someone who knows first hand what 9/11 was like for those who were there and those suffering with the loss, I just don't think we need a movie about it. I'm not really sure the direction this movie is going in and how it is depicting the events of that day since I couldn't see the trailor so I can't really comment further on it since I'm not sure if it is a re-enactment of everything that happened or not. I just can't believe that there is ANOTHER movie coming out about it.

About the loss of those people, don't you think it's time (as 5 years have passed since then) for the families and friends to finally make a fresh start (I'm sorry for the expression but I'm French and I guess that "fresh" isn't the exact word, of course not). I can imagine how tough and brutal it has been, and the fact that all the cameras from around the world were there and taped this event and are now able to broadcast it again, I agree it doesn't make it easier. But don't you think it's time to start again ? To be able to "watch" it is a hard thing to do. Anyone can imagine how one must feel at this moment, even for a fleeting moment, but it's only when it happens to you that you can fully realize and experience what it's like, as difficult as it may be.

As I know what I'm tallking about, I will just permit myself to say this: if your father wants to turn off the TV, I agree he may not want to see it again, it's perfectly comprehensible, but if he doesn't manage to talk about it, or just refuse anything that has to do with this event, if he wants to "bury" this memory, it's because he didn't accept. The problem is that this will follow him all his life long. I don't wanna lecture anyone, but it's a necessary thing to do (to accept, not only to live with it and try to go on).

When my father died (from a disease), it took me more than 4 years to overcome his loss. Now I live with it, even though, I think, I still can't accept this emptiness within me. In every show on TV, you always see someone dying in a hospital, with all these tubes and everything... It's awful. Now I'm trying to get used to it.

To accept the loss of someone is something necessary to do. You may be able to help him, you and your family.

Wow! I bet he has some amazing stories to tell about the day. And ya, it's obvious that filmakers just want to make money. That's the media for ya. My sister and our brother-in-law were working in Manhattan that day. I got totally scared when they let us out of school early and I heard what had happened. All I could've done was pray to God that they were alright. I kinda think that by making this film, it's being disrespectful to those who endured a large amount on that day. I can't believe some of the things people would do for money. Doesn't seem like we can do much now though.

I agree. I have a huge problem with these movies. I'm from NYC...I live in Soho now, but I was at college in Albany when it happened and both of my parents worked blocks away from the towers. I'll never forget watching the towers fall and not being able to reach my parents over the phone and thinking that they're somewhere in all of that.

 

It hasn't been long enough to use the excuse that these films were made so that the public will remember. And if the movies are out now, that means producers have been working since 9/12/01 on making these films. Whether or not they did this solely to make money, thats certainly how it appears. And if I was a true filmmaker who really truly cared to tell this story for the right reasons, I would donate all the profits to the families who lost people in this tradgedy. But I doubt thats even a thought in any of their minds.

Yeah I guess there are mixed emotions and will be when the Movie comes out, but its based around the two port authority workers (fire men) who were pulled from the towers after the collapse and they were involved in the movie so it'll be true to many people in some sense... but I can't even imagine what affect that would have on people, seeing people hitting the ground and stuff, its stuff we're just not meant to see.... but the film could help some families I guess... in some way.

I truely think its completely out of place to do this only a few years after it happened. Everyone saw the news and knows what happened, there is no need for a movie about it. Maybe in 20 years time it would be ok.

I agree. I remember that day very clearly. I was coming down the stairs at my dad's and he had been sent home early from the computer school he had been attending. He asked me if I had predicted "we'd be attacked" (I'll explain the predicted thing later if you guys want), and I told him no. The next thing I know I'm watching the towers burning and them imploding. There's a Celine CD I own that came to me in the mail that day that when I look at it I instantly remember 9/11. The CD was "Tout En Amor," or whatever that French edition of "The Collector's Series - Volume I" was called.

 

As horrible as the events of that day were, and as much as we should never forget the people who lost their lives that day, there is no need for another movie. Maybe like you said, 20 years from now, yes, but not right now. People have changed so much through the years, good and bad. There wasn't a hoard of movies that came out about Pearl Harbor after the war was over. Now, maybe that was because of the financial differance, but I doubt it. People seemed to have more respect about death back then. I don't like blaming things on TV and music, etc., but I think society has become very numb. We don't consider things to be "sacred" anymore...is nothing sacred anymore? (Sorry for the Celine pun - hopefully I made someone laugh). Animals and children have more respect for what's going on than most of the people in the world today.

 

That's my two cents.
