I don't understand (in reference to the CFC article) why Québec would be so interested in getting U2 to perform when they could have a good line up of their own artists...as if Céline, Simple Plan and other Québecois singers aren't going to be there for the 200 year anniversary of their country.

 

The article says they've offered 1,5 million to u2 but they'll offer more or something else if they say no! Then it says that the officials are also negotiating with Céline, Coldplay, Simple Plan and AC/DC. Which is a bit weird...are they trying to get it so there are no American people there...lol, I think they might be.

But regardless, it does not make sense to me that they are "negotiating" with Celine on this...

I mean, it's Quebec's 400th Anniversary - a significiant historical event taking place in Celine's "home." Maybe she is REALLY NOT wanting to fly to Canada to sing after the end of Vegas... maybe just she wants to relax in Florida... but this is a MAJOR event.

 

It's a financially irresponsible decision that the officials are pleading for U2 to come with a $1.5 Canadian Dollars incentive...

I think she will be there.

- 2006 TV Special about Celine and her relation to Quebec on Radio Canada,

- 2007 French album,

- 2008 live concert.

It's a good strategy. Actually I think the last time she performed there was during LTAL tour, that will be ten years ago by then. Think about that, ten years ... time flies ...

Oh and since this location is called "plains of Abraham", wouldn't it be great if she performed La Memoire d'Abraham there?
