Las Vegas Monthly Contest

Hello Guys,

 

Here's my concern. I'm from Argentina, that's South America. I feel really sad because I'd love to attend Céline's concert at Las Vegas more than anything in the world but I can't because for us it's so darn expensive because of the dollar rate change, you know?. I checked out the official Céline Dion website which is www.celinedion.com and every month you have the opportunity to win VIP tickets to see the show and meet Céline which is great but is not enough because it doesn't cover air fare or accomodations expenses.

For people in South America, a trip to Vegas is like U$S1000 BUT because it's Argentina we gotta save 3 times more, that means 3000 pesos in order to get 1000 dollars. It's absolutely mad, and that's just the air ticket, what about hotel expenses, transportation within Vegas, you gotta eat, gotta pay for the show tickets, I mean for us, it's just impossible.

I truly feel that Céline's Fan Club should cover a bit more otherwise if I ever win, it'll be no use 'cause I won't be able to make to Vegas anyway. And the contest isn't even free 'cause you gotta join and in order to do that, you gotta pay like U$S30 which for us is like a hundred. I just think they should consider that we're not all americans and if we're allowed to compete, some countries should have certain considerations.

Is anyone else upset about this or is it just me?.

I sent Mr. Angélil a letter regarding this, I'm sure Céline and him would do something about it if they knew since they are the sweetest people on earth.

You would be able to make it because it's open to all teamceline members from all over the world and if you won they would pay for youe airline ticket and your hotel room for the days you are gonna go there. Don't worry.

Thats not correct, when you win the monthly contest you 'only' get VIP-tickets and a meeting with Céline. You have to pay for the planetickets and hotel yourself. Every year there is a 'grande prize' in December. Then you can win a trip with everything included, also airfare, hotel, money to spend and lots more. But this is only in December!

Thanks for the replies but man, it's true, I'm not exaggerating, people in South America, especially in Argentina, we buy all her CDS, both in french and in english, all her merchandising just like anyone else in the whole world but travelling...in our country it's for rich people. I don't have a job and even if I did, I'd have to save like 7000 in order to go to the bank and get 2300 dollars, when you do the math, it's crazy.

With all the money the Fan Club manages, they should be able to at least pay for the air fare ticket...at least.

That really socks! For us it's cheap to go to the USA, well not really cheap of course, but the USA Dollar is cheaper than the Euro! I do have 2 jobs to pay my trip everytime! I hope you will win the contest one day!!!

i understand you very well...the same thing happens for the Romanian fans...but i guess here is worse. we don't get the books, the albums are always late...luckly the perfumes are here let's say in time....but the rest...

i could hardly find a damn DVD with TCOML concert....and as far as i know there are only two of her DVDs available.

so i guess Vegas is and always be a dream that i at least will never reach...

We're in the same boat it's hard to go to Celine's show coz i'm from South Africa and not only is the dollar 5 times to the rand but we still need to get a visa which is R600 and still get passports and then it's about R12 000 for a student to go to las vegas the flight that is, return ticket, and then we still need to get accommodation. So i agree it's crazy but it's Celine and if you never stop believing someday you'll make it to her show.

 

If there are ever any competitions then enter them because i entered her perfume competition in 2004 and i won a paid trip to see the show in las vegas including air fares and accommodation but when i entered the competition i never stopped praying for 2 months.

 

Try and enter the final year competition rather than entering the monthly ones and who knows you might win. I'll hold thumbs for u!!

The problem with the contest paying for airfare and accomodations and such is this...

 

Lets say someone from South America wins the contest, then CDA would have to pay $4000 USD to cover all of their expenses to get to Vegas and while in Vegas. Now lets say someone from California, just a few hours away, wins the contest. The CA winner wouldn't get the same prize value as the person from South America, which isn't fair because they both entered the same contest, won the same prize, and yet aren't receiving the same experiance (ie being able to travel to another country and experiance new things).

 

The contest offers you the big prize...the show tickets. After that it is up to you to figure out how to get there, no matter where you are coming from. I think it's the only way to make it really fair. PLUS like someone else already mentioned, you do have to oppertunity to win the "grand prize" in December.

I was so lucky when I went to Vegas. I had 450 euros to spend during one week there. The day I travelled I exchanged the money to dollars and guess what: 710 dolars.

I totally understand the guy from Africa. We, in Argentina have to have a visa which the US embassy charges 100 dollars, which for us means 300, three times more BUT, and check this out, if they don't feel like giving it to you, they don't give you back the money, they keep it.

 

I wrote to Mr. Angélil, both to Las Vegas and to Feeling Production. I don't know if he or Céline are aware that the fan club charges to enter the competition, I don't think they would approve.

 

They should make the contests charge-free and pay for at least the air ticket. Let's say accomodations is on your own but at least the air fare.

 

People in the US are so lucky 'cause it's so cheap for them to travel and people in Europe are even more lucky since the Euro's worth so much more.

 

Anyway, I love my country and I would never consider living somewhere else but I'd wish people from other countries would have more consideration, I'm talking about the people who organize all these contests.

Man, I just want to see a Céline Dion concert, why does it have to be so darn hard?????.

 

Anyway, thank you guys for supporting this motion and letting me know, I'm not alone on this subject.
