Operation: Las Vegas

Ok, guys. I've got tickets to see Celine one more time (I've been once before) before she decides to have another baby and take a break again. I feel it coming. Anyway, I really, really want to meet Rene or Michel or duh, Celine. I know Rene and Michel walk around the casino and the rest of the hotel so I was wondering if anyone has met them and has tips on when and where to track them down. Don't worry, I'm not a stalker, I'd be cool about it. I just think it'd be really cool to meet them and maybe get a picture. If I do I'll post it so all can see Thanks so much for any help!

When I was at the show in January, Michael came out from backstage about 15-20 mins. before the show started. He was helping an older man and woman towards their seats. I think they knew eachother and were possibly relatives because they were laughing and then Michael gave them each a kiss on the cheek. They were no more than 10 feet away from me and I was pretty suprised to actually see Michael. I wish I would have said something to him when he was walking back but I was honestly a little shocked because I didn't expect it! My best guess would be to just keep an eye out for them walking around because it is definitely something that they do. Unless you could somehow ask an usher or someone who works there where they are and possibly meet them. Maybe ask an employee the night before the show where Rene or Michael normally are before showtime and they could help you out....

 

By the way, has anyone here met or seen Rene or Michael at the show before? Just curious...

That's a good idea about asking the usher. Thanks for replying. When I was there last time the cashier in the boutique said Celine came in there sometimes and she'd met her a few times. She said she is so funny and so nice. No duh, right? I'll definitely keep my eyes open when I go though.

I've met Michel several times...he's really a incredibly great guy. He is soooo nice. I've came with in a couple inches of Rene a few times but I could never get up the nerve to actually talk to him. I'm determined to meet him next time.

 

From my experiance, asking the ushers is not gonna get you the best results. Back in October I was at the show and I saw Rene by the sound booth after the show, appearently the usher heard me make the comment that he is up there and shouted at me not to bother him. Mind you it was after the show and there were other people going up to him, so it's not like Rene was busy. Well I kinda ignored the usher and walked toward Rene. I waited a few seconds, Rene even saw me and gestured for me to wait for him but the usher came up to me and basically pushed me out of the theater. So anyway...the ushers aren't always the friendliest people when it comes to finding out how to meet Michel/Rene.

 

The other times I've seen Rene it has been just around the casino before the show. As for Michel...typically you can catch up with him after the show where the dancers come out. (if you are facing the boutique, the doors to your left). This is also a good place to get the dancers to autograph your program.

And I also would have said if you wanna keep your job here, you won't push people ou of here like that again. If they're told to wait, then let them wait and just ignore them and do your job. Actually I did tell the usher that Rene motioned for me to wait for him. But he just kept yelling and pushing me and the others I was with out. I decided to just go so rather than cause a sceen and look like a psyco. Later that night we met up with someone on Celine's team for a little while and told him about what happened, i'm not sure but I think he mentioned it to Rene the next day.

 

From what I hear Rene is as nice as can be. I know a few people who have had the opportunity to meet him and they say he is just the sweetest (and best smelling) man they've met.

Rene is actually as nice in person as he is on TV...His presence is a little intimidating though!

 

I met him this past February after seeing Celine's show for the 6th time. I was walking out of the Coliseum, and I looked up, and right in front of me was Rene. He had sunglasses on, and was walking with two friends. We were walking in the same direction, and I started laughing because all I could think was "great, he's going to turn around, see me, and think I'm stalking him." He heard me laughing and turned around a little bit, then stopped walking and looked at me. I froze! I managed to say "Hi Mr. Angelil" and he smiled and stuck out his hand to shake. He said he recognized me from the shows (I usually sit in the same seat Orch 3 row AA). I told him I had been 6 times, and he thanked me for my support. One of his friends asked me where I was headed, and I told them I was going to get my car from the garage, and just happened to end up behind them. Rene laughed and his friend said "I didn't think you were following us. Young girls don't usually chase after old men" and we all just laughed. Then I said "well, you DO walk fast...after i recognized you, I had to pick up the pace a little to keep up." Rene laughed again, and asked me when I was coming back to the show. I said "Oh, I'm not sure...but I will be back. I still have to thank you and Celine for being such an inspiration." and he said "well, you will always have a seat in our theatre. It was very nice to meet you. Have a good night." And then he and his 2 friends went into a restraunt right there in the forum shops.

 

It was a surreal experience! I stood there for 10 minutes just replaying the whole thing in my head and realizing just how cool it was! Like I said, he is very nice, but when he turns to look at you, or is talking to you, it's hard to NOT be intimidated!

That's amazing imalivekelley! I've heard that he's super nice, but it's great to hear a real encounter from someone that he really is as nice as they say. I'd probably do the same thing as you. When Celine was still touring I got to give her a rose for her birthday one year and when she took it I just stood there. I think my mouth was gaping open and my eyes were wide open...I couldn't move or say a word. It's so strange. Glad you got to meet Rene though, that's cool!

Wow, that's so awesome!!!! I saw Rene walking by in March, but he walked too fast and he was talking with a guy and it was inside the Colloseum..so i could not run after him like crazy! But i'd love to talk to him one day! From a distance i could see that he is sooo tall!!! Just like Patrick he's tall too!

 

It's a matter of luck to meet people around the Colloseum, on the moments when you don't expect it they are right in front of you! I met Michel a couple of times and he is a very nice man. I think all the people who are related to Celine are nice! Just like Celine!
