Leone Posted February 12, 2006 at 12:45 PM Posted February 12, 2006 at 12:45 PM (edited) The first biography I bought and read was "My story, my dream". Not so long ago I bought "For keeps".. and I liked it! But I also have "Celine: The authorized biography" and it has been laying on my shelf and collecting dust. I haven't read it yet, and nothing is pulling me to do that - at the moment. I feel like I know a lots already and since it never was my first biography.. I have a feeling that the 2 others are based on the first one... Are there any specific reasons I should pick it up and read? Is there some information that you won't find in My story, my dream or For keeps? If there is.. don't tell me "what it is".. just explain what "kind of info".. Please no "If you're a true fan.. you would have read it 8 years ago..." Edited February 12, 2006 at 12:49 PM by Leone Quote
Mozinha Posted February 12, 2006 at 12:52 PM Posted February 12, 2006 at 12:52 PM (edited) It has a lot of inside info on her FIY tour, a lot about her travelling, the shows and appearences, a lot of funny stories you can't miss and a lot of detail you won't find in the others. That's what makes the difference between this one and My Story My dream. It's fun to read. I read it 2 years ago and I loved it. Gotta read it again. But maybe I'm a little biased because I think GH Germain is really the best biographer Celine ever had. He lived and travelled with her during one year and he knows a lot. And his style of writting is great. Céline's Blues Posted February 12, 2006 at 01:38 PM Posted February 12, 2006 at 01:38 PM I haven't read For Keeps yet but I think the official bio from 1997 is the best one EVER. The way he described her is simply outstanding. I think I will be surprised at how Céline is being portreyed in For Keeps cuzz I bet it's the opposite of what she has been in the 90's! For Keeps seems to be a great book as well. So is Germain's bio. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

The way he described her is simply outstanding. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>He did an amazing job. I guess he really put into words the real Celine as no one ever did. For Keeps is ok I guess. I only like the last chapters when Celine talks about her son and her future. It had never been in a book before so I liked it. I didn't like how her past was writting. It felt something was lacking there. But then again, Georges lived with her during one year, he got to know her better than all of us will ever do. Mozinha Posted February 13, 2006 at 10:35 PM Posted February 13, 2006 at 10:35 PM That was hilarious. And if I'm not mistaken, Mego was afraid René would be mad at thim and blame him for Celine's driking. nano Posted February 14, 2006 at 06:23 PM Posted February 14, 2006 at 06:23 PM Céline gets tipsy at the bar in Stockholm From The Authorized Biography, pages 78-79...It is almost dark at four o'clock in the afternoon when Céline comes to the Globe for the sound check. Night comes early this time of year, but Céline doesn't mind. She loves the night. It's her time, the time when she feels free and strong and protected. Tonight, in Stockholm, there's an exhilarating kind of joy. Everyone feels it, and everyone knows more or less where it comes from. Last year, Céline sang here, and later, after the show, she told the musicians that she wanted to go out to a club with them. They discovered a disco in the old part of Stockholm, near Lake Mälaren, and they spent the better part of the night there. Céline feels like drinking - something strong. Frulla told her to try tequila. She danced until four o'colck in the morning, and for the first time in her life, she was tipsy. The band was worried. After the third tequila, they tried to get her stop, but she answered that she never did things halfway. She ordered a fourth, then a fift, then a sixth. They lost track. They only remember how worried they were. They were thinking of how René would react when he found out that they'd let Céline drink in a snoky bar. He'd tell the guys that they'd let him down by letting Céline go overboard. In the bar, everyone recognized her, and men and women both came and danced around her. The Sedish men surrounded her, handsome, big-boned, elegant, blond and polished - and drunk too, no doubt. It was quite a night. Céline was floating on air, dancing to disco music. She woke up in great shape the next afternoon. She loved that night - all of it. But she hasn't drunk anything since, except for a glass of red wine, and even then, very rarely. When Angélil found out about her escapade, he laughed. Mostly, he laughed at how concerned the band members had been... Quote "Today, I’m a person on a path of connecting with my source and understanding that I am on the leading edge of creation.."

I have a different bio, by someone else, and eventhough the writer probably never met Céline, it was fun to read about her life from a different point of view. It could never top My Story, My Dream of course Quote
