rodney2004 Posted January 21, 2006 at 08:52 AM Posted January 21, 2006 at 08:52 AM It sold 13 million copies with just one decent single released which is the song ANDHC. I know that it has 3 singles released but with proper promotion, I think ANDHC is the only single that was promoted properly. "Im Alive" single was not promoted properly that's why it didn't help the album to maintain in the chart. and "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" was playable nowhere. Public never thought that "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" video exist. If only IA and GTSW were as successful as ANDHC then the album could sold more. Plus, they should have released 2 more singles after "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" like " I surrender" or "Sorry For Love" then it could boost up her sales. Remembering that the album "Let's Talk about Love" started to boost up its sales from its 3rd single released "My Heart Will Go On". It had its peak after the release of its 3rd single. While in the ANDHC album, the 3rd single GTSW started its death. Besides, LTAL and "Falling Into You" has 5 singles and 5 videos while ANDHC has only 3 and the 2 were not promoted. I mean , I think It could reach 30 million which could be her 3rd album with 30 million sales aside from FIY and LTAL. Just sharing my opinion. Krys Posted January 21, 2006 at 09:09 AM Posted January 21, 2006 at 09:09 AM i agree it could have sold more. its all Sony's faulty promotion scheme I'm Alive and Goodbye's the Saddest word are two very great songs. anyways, whats done is done *sigh* Quote
Mozinha Posted January 21, 2006 at 09:13 AM Posted January 21, 2006 at 09:13 AM I don't think Goodbye's the saddest word was a great choice for a single. Don't get me wrong, I love this song and adore the video but it's not really a great choice for a single. It's not really the kind of song that works for airplay and sales. Céline's Blues Posted January 21, 2006 at 09:14 AM Posted January 21, 2006 at 09:14 AM 100% co-signed! There is absolutely no doubt that this is the freshest albeit not the highest quality English album of hers. Nonethelessbutstillofcourse I would say that the freshness factor along with the fantastic new remix of the title song showed ppl that Céline Dion is able to pull something really new and interesting off while still not drifting away from the ballads and her famous up-tempo songs. I do not want to search for reasons why it did not fare as well as it could actually have - we know it all by now too well - but let me say many of the songs there were left just as they are without giving them chance to see the light by releasing them... The album death after "I'm Alive" was sudden and painful for the fans. Pity! Here's what a critic said about it: "Either way, on the new album Celine is singing a lot smarter than she had before, using her voice to much better effectshe'll hit you with volume, but not in tedious, drawn-out climaxes, and not always where you'd expect it. She does some of the breathy stuff too, but this time it seems fresh; on the title song she double-tracks a buffed and gleaming vocal line atop the breathiness, which makes a nice contrast." It is also note worthy that at least in my opinion if you consider Céline's vocal development so far A New Day Has Come was the last album where we have heard fawless, really polished vocals. It is kind of a turning point for her, a point from which on she decided to live for her family and not for her voice. "One Heart" was a nice surprise vocally - Céline going French vocally on an English album. I'm sure the next English CD - whenever it comes out, whether it's March 2007 or 2008 - it'll be as much surprising. Positively, I dare to say! Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
Célinefull Posted January 21, 2006 at 10:37 AM Posted January 21, 2006 at 10:37 AM Nonethelessbutstillofcourse <- Largest word ever? It wasn't her best album, but it certainly could have done better, the problem is that it's the same time and time again with Céline! Sony doesn't give her half a chance anymore. Leone Posted January 21, 2006 at 01:17 PM Posted January 21, 2006 at 01:17 PM I don't think ANDHC could sold that much even with proper promotion. Maybe a few more millions, but not more.I think there was a good topic about this not so long ago "Why isn't Celine selling as much as before"... Like somebody said there.. << those days where artists could sell millions (20+) of their album is over.. Music industry has changed >> - and I believe that. Quote
firebird Posted January 21, 2006 at 02:52 PM Posted January 21, 2006 at 02:52 PM I think the album did well. It was in the top 10 of several countries and 13 mio. is not nothing. Other singers would be happy if they sold 13 mio. of all their albums together.Allthough they missed some good single opportunities : Ten Days, I Surrender, Prayer, Right In Front Of You, When The Wrong One Loves You Right - they would have been better than I'm Alive or Goodbye's. I think she could have done like she did with Tous Les Secrets and release the English version of Ten Days for international market and the French version (Tomber) for French market, and also I Surrender using her Las Vegas performance for a video clip. AllCeline Posted January 21, 2006 at 05:21 PM Posted January 21, 2006 at 05:21 PM I aggree. ANDHC is my favorite album and ANDHC (the single), was most definately properly promoted. Hense the reason it was such a hit. "I'm Alive" was promoted, but not as much as ANDHC, that a pity. And the sad thing is that I don't think Goodbye's was ever promoted in the US. I remember only finding out about the Goodbye's video when doing a general search for 'Celine Dion' on the web. I didn't even know that Goodbye's was released as a single. I never heard it on radio or saw the video on TV. I do put at least part of the blame (if not all) on Sony. Also, the album consisted on 16 track, (17 out of North America), and I really think they could've release I Surrender as a single. Why released just three singles out of a 16 track album and only allow two of the released singles to be reconized everywhere. That totally suck!! Personally, I think ANDHC was and still is Celine's great album of here career, and it's so sad that it was underestimated. george Posted January 21, 2006 at 08:22 PM Posted January 21, 2006 at 08:22 PM it was in my opinion the last real Celine album, apart from the french ones!!!!!It contained nice songs, most of them powerful,it was full of unexpected songs that Celine interpreted magistrallement and there could have been many singles in order for it to sell around 18.000.000 though thirty million is far I think....But as all of us know Sony does not help Celine...it makes traps and HUGE mistakes!!!!!It underestimates Celine as a voice, singer and artist in general!!!!! JP Posted January 22, 2006 at 04:58 AM Posted January 22, 2006 at 04:58 AM No, that's absolutly false because after 20 millions, it became a bif record like Come on Over of Shania Twain or Jagged Little Pill of Alanis Morissette.. And yeah, i think too that the promotion was totally a sh*t for this album.. I think they don't have to make One Heart and just continue the promotion of this album with amazing songs like I Surrender or Rain Tax or Right in Front of You.. Moleque20 Posted January 23, 2006 at 11:05 AM Posted January 23, 2006 at 11:05 AM I believe that ANDHC(album) should have been promoted more. ANDHC(single) was an uptempo baby song. IA too. GTSW was a great ballad, but a baby song too. (Stupid Sony)I think that people got bored of that. I Surrender + Sorry For Love + When The Wrong One... should have been the singles of ANDHC, not GTSW+IA. HYEBIL should have been released 10 months earlier. IA was released in June and GTSW on December!!!! 6 whole months without a single . Thas's a tragic mistake. =/ Quote Les étoiles tombent une à une. Mes émois sont de saturne.
