The english one sounded more like "let's found out words that rhymes and fits instead of the french vocals" (that way we save more money instead of a brand new song).. so the feeling & special meaning gets lost.I'm surprised many of you liked it.. and I respect that.Please do not reply to my message and wonder what I'm talking about. But it sure was a surprise, and it's exiting. A surprising move... The song (TLS) has extremely good production and arrengements (said that since the first time I heard it in my stereo). It is one of the very few new tracks which has this magic in its sound (TTWIS, HYEBIL, ANDHC radio edit and CN). I know I hoped they'd record an English version and made a single out of it. And some of you claimed she recorded an English version aswell, but as with many rumours, few are true. I was very curious/worried how the lyric "translation" was gonna turn out. After first verse and half refrain I was calmed, and a bit exited. But sadly it ended there . It has this TTWIS content mixed with a little bit of TT and TH content... but in the end it is just plain and uhm.. can't explain it... - "blaha"? I think it would had been better if they would had stuck to the spirit found in the first verse and first part of the refrain which is basically a bit of It's Hard To Say Goodbye mixed with "I don't agree with you but do it if you must". But it just gives a feeling of that a great and nobel message wants to come through but it doesn't, and in the end just... "look what a fine written sentence, and here's another one now put the other one right after the other or before...". So disapointed with the lyrics? Kind of yea. Disapointed with the English version? - hell no. Contradicting myself? Perhaps. But let's put it like this: I think it's great that this production and melody and type of song comes out to the English market. I think it's a shame for such a good melody and production to go along with not so good lyrics (at least partly), but at least this track now reaches a wider audience! One more thing: is this version shorter? Because I get the feeling which I don't like and which bores me: verse - refrain - refrain - bridge - refrain. Verses brings strengt to a song and further meaning (instead of repeating the same thing over and over again) and the bridge is often my favourite part - does this track even have one?? But yea I know that's how hits are built up, anything on the radio is just one big refrain. So lyric quality good or bad. The masses don't seem to care about that. But one thing is: if they like the melody they want to sing along... and yea, try to find a strong catchy line in this song and you did a great job. And come to mind the masses (which a song has to appeal to if it should be a hit) will have even more trouble finding one cathcy line. For they wont give the song as many chanses as a fan will. There is one line I in particular find as uncatchy as it gets: "How am I gonna stop it if you wanna give it all to love" squeezed into right under 3 seconds in a hard rhythm. And to be honest: doesn't that line feel a bit amateurish? What I am trying to say is that a song can be a huge hit even though the lyrics are not good (infact almost all hits have bad lyrics, for example the last mega hit You're Beautiful) but if it has lyrics no one can sing along to or catch, its chanses are not so good. So what this track is gonna fall on is not the lyric quality (which some might think) but that it's simply not catchy. Too bad, good song. But hey, at least now people will give it one chanse... And like always I don't like this type of videos a half with scenes from the movie and the other half with the singer, sorry but for me, it's very boring, although she looks so beutiful. Why would we have a different song in English and French for the same movie??????? Since Asterix is huge in the French markets, the French song will be in the French version of the movie and the English song in all the other language versions of the movie I suppose... I'm really curious to find out if the English song is really the original version. If so, J. Veneruso did a wonderful job adapting it into French!! Translating lyrics and making them fit is not a simple job... And lastly, I read some comments that Celine didn't lipsynch correctly in the English video. It's not the case. It's because her voice is on the back vocals and obviously she can't sing her own lines and do the back vocals at the same time live or for the video. It's a studio thing. That's all. This song smells HIT HIT HIT to me! Oh and what's up with member Siur or something like that? Always negative comments... anything positive in your life? Congrats Celine!!! Quote
