"I'm Alive" Divas Live" 2002

Ok, I'm gonna try to make this a little clear. I don't know how to word this but I am going to try. I just downloaded I'M ALIVE and ANDHC (Divas Live performance) from Celinemaniacs.com. I had noticed a bit of a change in her vocals comparing her from the site than from the actual concert recording. If I'm confusing you, like...watch the video performance of I'm alive, listen to the beginning (when she first comes out and doing the mmmm part). Then on ANDHC compare the part where she sings "all in the eyes of a boy". It seems like the Divas Live CD has more touch ups on her voice or something because you know her voice wasn't the best in that performance. I don't mean to sound confusing but just compare her vocals and maybe you'll see what I'm talking about.

I know exactly what you're saying! I had also noticed that! I think there are actually 3 different versions: the TV version (which is available on CelineManiacs), the DVD version, and the CD version. If you pay attention to the "mmmm" at the beginning of "I'm Alive" from the DVD version, you'll notice that it's shorter than the other versions.

I think VH1 recorded the artists' voices in a different channel so they could edit it later. And maybe the singers had the opportunity to re-record some of the vocals in studio, because some notes sound just too perfect for a live performance.

I just don't agree when you said Celine's voice wasn't the best in that performance! How can you say that? lol. Her voice was just so perfect and flowless!! :-)

Well.. the cd version and the PCM track on the dvd is pretty much the same (edited and mixed).. while 5.1 Dolby Digital is "live".

If you listen to Cher's song "Believe" she sings it live, if you change the audio on the dvd.. (don't remember which one) she's lipsynching to a the album version.

Celine sang the beginning of I'm Alive a bit late in the live version. and then SONY decided to dub it to make it sounds more perfect.

I'm glad I was able to explain what I was trying to say.

Some other things you can notice, play the TV version of "I'm alive", in the beginning when she sings "when you call on me"...you don't hear her say "when" (or barely hear her at all) - on the celinemaniacs.com site, you can hear her say/sing "when". Also notice the time lapse between "mmmm" and "I get wings to fly, ooo I'm alive"...it's longer on the CM.com site than it is on the TV version.

 

Also on ANDHC, the back-up singers sound much different (at the very beginning of the song) on the CM.com site version than the TV version.

 

Please don't think I'm trying to make a big deal out of this, I just thought it was different to notice this.

Oh and Rodrigo, I didn't mean that her voice was bad or anything, I just meant some performances were better than that one. I guess it depends on the key that the song is played in. Like with ANDHC she didn't sound as good when the music was different - ex: Rosie show, Today Show, Divas Live compared to the album version that was played like at La Fureur(?), CBS special, The View, etc. That was the point I was making
