In the current issue of "Chorus" Goldman gave an extremely LONG interview where he expressed the wish to get more into his family and he said he won't be writing for others anymore and that he got another proposal from Céline's side and refused it.

JJGoldman not writing for Celine for a while is not good news... not at all.

 

This jazz thing is making me sick already. So much hype around it and we're not even sure it will happen.

Why am I seeing so much disappointment for so many people in a very near future?... especially because Celine is more into rock than jazz, at least that's what I understood from her bio but I could be wrong.

I know he would say this soon. he already stopped record new album himself, stop touring, and no les enforce... so I know he will stop writing for Celine too. I think he'll enjoy his family for several years, then come out with some fresh material.

Tu en reviendrais à tes ambitions de départ, à l'époque où tu souhaitais seulement être auteur-compositeur…- Non, j'arrête complètement l'écriture… Pour les autres comme pour moi. Après Chansons pour les pieds que je n'avais, déjà, pas envie de faire, j'ai d'abord répondu par la négative à Céline [Dion] qui souhaitait que je lui écrive entièrement un nouvel album. Alors, elle m'a demandé si au moins je pourrais l'organiser… Là, ça m'intéressait davantage, car je pouvais faire appel à d'autres auteurs-compositeurs que j'aime bien. Mais c'était un tout autre travail, de la production artistique plutôt que de l'écriture. D'ailleurs, je n'ai fait moi-même que deux chansons, ou deux et demie, dans cet album… Ensuite, j'ai fait quelques petites choses, comme pour le nouvel album de Patrick Fiori, mais cela remonte déjà à quelque temps et ce n'ont été que des collaborations amicales… Et depuis, j'essaie de refuser gentiment toutes les demandes qui m'arrivent. Alors, je ne dis pas que je n'accepterais pas certaines propositions où je me sentirais un peu obligé, mais en tout cas cela ne sera en aucun cas une initiative de ma part.

It's all about the songs, not about songwriters. I don't care if JJG choose to not collaborate with Céline anymore. She has other songwriters like Veneruso, Benzi and others. I remember that everyone here said that JNVOP was written by JJG when they first listened to it.

In that quote he only talks about 1fille&4types, not about another new album....Of course, I'm very sad JJ decided to stop writting all togher, because he's my favourite song writer . Maybe he'll just take a break to get inspired again and then come back with brilliant new songs. I don't think he can keep away from writing songs for too long, just as Celine can't stay away from singing too long. And anyway hes says there that he won't take initiative to write anymore, but if someone asks and he will feel he has to, he will write for that person. So i believe Celine is part of those person you just have to write for . And personally, i can't wait for a jazz or blues album from Celine

No, the problem is that people (or the medias) always interpret the artists in their way. When Celine said she's going to take a break they wrote she's going to retire, when Barbra said she won't go on tour anymore, they wrote she's going to retire, when Goldman says he wants to have a break, they write he's going to retire and never write again. That's the problem, not what the artists say.

Yes, taking a break but he truly said i the interview he doesn't feel like composing and writing anymore! JJG is 60 and has a 7 year old child as well... It's sad I think of course, but Céline needs to move on in the right direction please.

 

And of course we don't know anything about the jazz album. Perhaps it will be released in 2009 or even later but it will be released. It would be a very good idea to release it next year tho.
