SimplyCeline Posted December 22, 2005 at 08:10 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 08:10 PM Hey people, Am i the only one who thinks Celine should quit Vegas now? I went to see her in November 04 and although i did love the show and was totally 'wowed' by her, i may have well have been listening to the CD with regards to her audience 'chats'... ALmost word for word! When i compare it with her concert 'Live in Memphis', it really does pale. In Memphis she was spontaneous, quirky, and obviously really having a blast. But in vages it all seems a little too pre-planned. And it isnt helped by the fact she sings the same songs every single night, and has been singing those songs since March 2003! Surely she must be bored of them by now? I dont understand why she can't select new songs every month or so, she has a large enough back catalouge to do so. And it's not as though she couldn't do once off performances of certain songs that are sang by other artists either. Of course she should keep her standard songs - the power of love, I Surrender, It's all coming back to me now etc.. - but other than those, she could sing songs such as: Us, when i need you, River deep Mountain High, All by myself, Fly, Think Twice (why she left this out i dont know!) Just walk away, If you asked me to or where does my heart beat now. She has so much material to choose from. So i think she should either spice up the song list a little or stop Vegas altogether and work on a new album then organise a tour to promote it. I just think A new day is getting a little stale. I mean, it must be the longest day in world history and im a little tired now... If you haven't been to see A New Day, it is worth going the once. Celine is amazing live and i was totally mesmerised by her - could not take my eyes off her. And yes i would go again, just to see her on stage. But the fact she is singing songs as if on repeat, really annoys me. To me, it is such a waste of her talent and i am sure it must be wearing her down. What do the rest of you think? Should she stay or should she go? Andrew Quote
Mozinha Posted December 22, 2005 at 08:24 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 08:24 PM I think Celine should just carry on with her plans. Nando Férri Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:00 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:00 PM I would like her out Vegas too... But, what can I do? I love her, so I'll let her does what she thinks that it's better for her... Quote http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4ejungtQy1r9swpco6_250.gif
thevoice Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:06 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:06 PM unfortunately we would have to wait 2 years for celine to leave vegas(around october 2007) . Quote
SimplyCeline Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:14 PM Author Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:14 PM I know she likes staying Vegas because it means she can have a 'normal' family life with Rene and Rene-Charles. But even so, could she not change the line up, even slightly? To me, it just seems a shame that one of the best voices in the world has to sing the same songs night after night. Andrew Quote
Mozinha Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:42 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 09:42 PM Celine is a very professional artist. She commited to do this show and there is no way she would just quit, unless something very wrong happened. So... why wonder? It's just not going to happen. winforlife Posted December 22, 2005 at 10:12 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 10:12 PM If she were to change the songs monthly, it would involve the dancers and scenery changes=additional $$ which means the tickets would probably go up( they are already too expensive, imo). SHe will only be there until next yr. It's not as though Céline will permanently retire-she talked about going back to France and touring in the future. Who knows if invitro will work again-hopefully RC will have a little brother or sister. If she doesn't get pregnant, her plans may change.I can't see her spending more than two yrs w/out pursuing an acting career, producing more cds and limited # of concerts which most people prefer. tativale Posted December 22, 2005 at 10:28 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 10:28 PM I think she did everything right, Vegas is amazing, every artist now wants to go to Vegas... and do what she does. yes, it's a challenge... but so far she did it very well, and she has been doing it very weel Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/tativale/lildoll.gif"Sometimes we talk with our eyes and it says more than 10,000 words" moiIt's always possible to change! kdw123 Posted December 22, 2005 at 10:37 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 10:37 PM You know Celine is under a contract and yes I'm sure there is probably a way out if she wanted to but that is not how she is. She commited to doing the shows and I'm sure she will. You have to understand that A New Day is a SHOW. You don't change a show every night. I agree that I would like for her to change a few of the songs in the show, but I do understand that it is a SHOW and that is easier said than done. For her to do this, there is costs involved so I understand why she doesn't do it very often. I love the Vegas show and I love to go see it. I think that people need to understand this is what she wants right now. She has the best of both worlds...show business and her family. Be thankful for what we have.....because it could be worse.....she could retire and never sing again. Quote
SimplyCeline Posted December 22, 2005 at 11:07 PM Author Posted December 22, 2005 at 11:07 PM ok, i understand that A New Day is a show and that it will take time to learn a new dance rutine for new songs and a slight charge (i dont really forsee a huge cost in adding a little video footage in the show) will be involved. But i would be happy for new songs to be added in once every 6 months. And also, still in relation to cost, it is not as if Celine isn't making bucket loads of cach from this show (100 million +) so i dont see 1 or 2 million a set change being overly expensive. She would probably recoup that money within a few months. Furthermore, i am aware of Celine's professionalism and know that she would never bale on a contract. But i do feel there could have been, and should have been, changes made to the A New Day show to keep it entertaining and fresh for hard core fans who return to Vegas to see the show subsequent times. Im not asking that she change the songs every night, but changes bi-annually or annually would have been nice and would have keep the show fresh and up-to-date. And in my oppinion would have brought in more people to see the show. Just my two cents worth... Andrew Quote
Céline's Blues Posted December 22, 2005 at 11:57 PM Posted December 22, 2005 at 11:57 PM Vegas is not a tour. Vegas is a show, an experience if you take Céline's words. There is no way comparing her usual concerts with one or two light effects to a bombastic apogeum of A New Day. Ask anyone who's been there. She amazes everyone. On tour or in Vegas. Let her do her thing. She has plenty of her life to tour yet. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
Bellamy Posted December 23, 2005 at 12:08 AM Posted December 23, 2005 at 12:08 AM No. Celine sing and say almost exactly the same thing when she tour too. She only change "Hi, New York" to " Hi, Memphis" mostly. So even she tours again, she won't change what she sing often. A New Day makes you feel boring, only because you're a lucky American have chance to see it for many times. If she tours again, of course you can only listen to one or two concerts most. And most audience in A New Day are first time watcher too. So this is not a problem at all. I can't find anything wrong even she doesn't change anything. Shows in Vegas always remain the same, many other shows had run many years with no change at all. It's the same show for different audience. AllCeline Posted December 23, 2005 at 02:50 AM Posted December 23, 2005 at 02:50 AM Honostly, I don't think she should quit the Vegas run until the contract's up. She's doing great and the show's still a hit. I'm starting to find out that a lot more people know about it than I thougt. I mean, once I found out that my English teacher knew about the show, I was sure that the show was a success. Celine's doing great and everything's at a good pace. We'll see about new records and world tours after Vegas. Why cut short something that's a success? That's like trying to fix something that's not broken. karatedude317 Posted December 23, 2005 at 03:23 AM Posted December 23, 2005 at 03:23 AM (edited) I think Celine should make another network special "A New Day, A New Year" for the A new Day show, in the new year 2006. Since the show is different now than the last broadcast in 2003, it would be like a new show for those who havnen't seen it yet. It would promote it once more, and maybe have people who haven't gone yet, really want go and see it before it ends the following year. A "new day" for a "new year" with a "new show" for those who havnen't seen it since the debut. ANYONE FROM CBS OUT THERE AND READING THIS??? Belle Céline Posted December 24, 2005 at 03:16 AM Posted December 24, 2005 at 03:16 AM even though I have never seen the show I know she does say the samethings everynight, and the song list rarely changes and that would bug me to death if I was her!I mean come on after all this time she could do a new song list every month or less its time for change i think Celine needs to leave vegas or chargeless to see the show I mean 200 bucks for 1 ticket!thats crazy plus the cost to get to vegas espically since some ppl live really far away like I do,its impossible for me to go see the show!please lower prices!!! firebird Posted December 24, 2005 at 07:46 AM Posted December 24, 2005 at 07:46 AM It is nice, something different for her and the show is really good, but I won't be sad if it comes to an end. It's just another point in her career and when it ends she can go on to the next one. The bad thing about it is that she doesn't really care about the rest of the world anymore. It's just USA and France and Quebec, even when she came to promote her Best Of she only went to France and Europe is quite a little bit bigger than just that country. So it is good as long as it is running, but all good things have to end sooner or later. and btw we are still waiting for a certain DVD, aren't we ?! Quote
thevoice Posted December 24, 2005 at 10:25 AM Posted December 24, 2005 at 10:25 AM guys , celine will sell alot again - it's just a matter of time . after she leaves vegas , she would be able to promote her albums again...she'll be free to be everywhere at any given time - that's one of the reasons why i cant wait for this vegas gig to end . scallywag Posted December 24, 2005 at 12:49 PM Posted December 24, 2005 at 12:49 PM Well if Celine likes it she should do it. Jeanine Posted December 24, 2005 at 09:42 PM Posted December 24, 2005 at 09:42 PM Yes, "A New Day..." is really different from a tour. There are many differences:E.g. "A New Day..." is not only visited by fans, like het tour-concerts were, people just need to do something that night. This makes the 'atmosphere' in the Colloseum different... And 'cause of that I prefer a concert with fans, people that really love Céline! So, I hope also that Céline will quit Vegas when her contract is over. But that will not say that I don't like this Vegas-thing, but 'cause of this she can't take the time to make albums the way shé wants them to make, she can't promote the albums she finally releases. And last but not least, I've got also the idea that she must change the songs more often, half a year or something like that. But not the whole show, but just a few songs.. I know this is possible, so why don't they do this??? Well, summarising: I like Céline doing something she really wants en enjoys. But in my eyes 4 years seems a bit to long, especially with this less changing of songs.. And the less time she has to record and promote an album...Céline you're welcome to come to our countries once more!! Koolan Posted December 24, 2005 at 10:07 PM Posted December 24, 2005 at 10:07 PM Actually, at one point, Celine wanted to end the contract early. Since she was so far into her contract, it wasn't really a good idea to do that. I don't know if she should change her songs that bi-yearly or yearly, but I think it's a good idea for her to change costumes for the new year. I guess the people that have seen the show have a higher tendency to expect changes as opposed to the ones whom have never seen the show live. A New Day, A New Year..it'd be awesome to have another special. So much have changed since 2003, gone were the short blonde hair, new songs were added, and she sounds better than ever. I'm sure the tv special will be a big success. Quote Please support the forum by ordering through our Amazon.com referral link below. Click here to go to the Amazon homepage.
celine the power of my dream Posted December 24, 2005 at 10:14 PM Posted December 24, 2005 at 10:14 PM Well I agree that some changes to the show won't harm, but I agree with some people here it's a show. I go there every year and for me it's the best thing I can watch. Somebody said it here there are more regualar people than fans so unlike somebody else stated here changes won't bring in more people a good tv-special would do more. Don't forget she still sells-out, it's now at 76% or so in 2,5 years unless it drops lower than 55/60% I would not quit if I we're her first of all she has a contract ok probably she can get out but why if you have the best of both worlds, second if she drops out earlier with no good reason it will back fire with negative publisity now the press doesn't harm her because she still sells out and I know for sure that the moment something happens they can be negative they will. third there are still fans who want to go there and want to see the show whether it's changes or not. I think Céline should finish this in style add some changes bring it to the end give a beautiful DVD(we disurve that after all the waiting ) try to get pregnant and than go further with all her other plans she has, because they sound intresting. I think Céline is not yet ready with surprising us somethings for the bad some things with the good.
