Yangedd Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I've just finished watching "These Are Special Times" CBS Special and I loved it. Did Sony dub some of the songs though? "Oh Holy Night" and "The Prayer" seemed either playback or dubbed. Also, "I'm Alive" from the "A New Day Has Come CBS Special" also seemed dubbed. It sounded exactly like the CD version because Celine always changes things with that song and makes brilliant sounds and stuff. I know, it sucks, cuz Celine could do better than a darn fine job on her own! I don't understand why they need one. But at least A New Day is live! Maybe that's why they dubbed it with the CD version. To promote it?? Just put a lot of attention, and you'll see that I'm alive was completelly LIVE. Only GOODBYE's was playback, but it's not part of the special. So, it's not count for me...By the way, ANEW DAY HAS COME was the single for the time that the special was broadcasted. The show came in april on TV, and I'm Alive was a SUMMER single... Yangedd Posted December 19, 2005 Author Posted December 19, 2005 I really don't think that "I'm Alive" was Live...It sounded Live at the start, but towards the end it was completly sounding like the CD version...Celine didn't even make any changes with her voice...Compare it to "A New Day Has Come"...Her voice is totally different. Someone on this said that there was a version of the ATW special floating around the net somewhere with Celine's live Vocals. I find it hard to believe that Celine would actually lip most of the songs in the show. Song couldn't do anything to "Love Can Move Mountains" and "Because You Loved Me/Here We Are" tho and I am glad about that. I can understand if she had a bad night or her voice wasn't that great, but it can't happen all that often, so why do they do that? ATW was all lipped and dubbed, how disappointing because she sang with so much emotion and feeling. Like someone mentioned earlier, why does she even bother? And I'm surprised that she would lip performances as much as she does. It really makes it disappointing because if you wanted to hear the CD version, you'd pop a CD in. And you're right about her singing with so much emotion that night. You could clearly see it in her face that she was putting 100% into her performance. It's a really bad shame that they did what they did. And it wasn't Celine lipping, because she wouldn't do that to her fans. Even "That's The Way It Is" was dubbed with Nsync's vocals added. They added them and we didn't get to see her! and then giving Gloria and Nsync their song made me cry becuause we could have seen MORE Celine! I miss getting her specials the day before Thanksgiving! Anyway... I know a version of ALL THE WAY exists without the overdubbing. Also a bootleg recording exists of the whole show. I hope someone will post it some time! It was all the studio versions that they used. If anything they should have used other live tracks. Anything but what they did. I would also love to hear the undubbed version of this special.
