It says that around 3/4, the kids are attracted by their parents : if it's a girl, she's attracted by her father, and if it's a boy, by his mother. I don't think they see their other parent as being a threat though. If we take the example if RC, it's true that he's supposed to prefer his mom to his dad right now, although I think the complex may be finished at his age. But this is a true thing, I remember when it happened to my little Clément... something like a year ago, he didn't want to leave his mom each time he left for school he said with his little voice, "mommy I'll miss you so much" and cried a lot... I think it lasted something like... 3 weeks or a month. So cute but boring for the mom lol.
