Confirmed: Bette Midler & Cher to replace Celine in Vegas

MIDLER TO TAKE OVER FROM DION IN VEGAS

 

Showbiz icon BETTE MIDLER has agreed to take over CELINE DION's Las Vegas show when the Canadian singer stands down next year (08). Midler will begin rehearsals in October (07) and take to the stage for her first performance at the famous Caesars Palace Colosseum venue in February 2008. The 61-year-old tells PageSix the show may be called 'The Showgirl must go on', and hints she has a spectacle planned: "That Colosseum - it has lots of fun stuff to fool around with!"

 

 

Cher, Bette Midler and a third Diva will take Celine Dion's place at Caesars next year.

 

Luxe Life has predicted for months that either Cher or Bette Midler would win the neck-and-neck race to replace Celine Dion next year at her Collosseum theater in Caesars Palace. Now, using the wisdom of Solomon, I’ve learned that, not only has Caesars top brass decided to sign both singers, but they've even added a third diva deluxe! The surprise addition will probably be former Supreme singer, Diana Ross, so the 3 femme-superstars can rotate their concerts with Elton John’s extended Red Piano run. Don’t be surprised, though, if you see all three singing divas at one point for one extraordinary night with them all on stage together! Diana has been seen at Caesars, checking out all the details herself.

This is just sad. LOL. I really do think Cher would have been enough of a draw to "replace" Celine, but then to add the other two is a joke. Bette does better in smaller venues, not one like The Colleseum. And as for Miss Ross, I don't think there's enough alcohol in C.P. to make her happy. :-X

All our scoops of last week have now been officially confirmed: an AEG executive quietly confirmed the contract signings of Bette Midler and Cher to replace Celine next year and then Celine's own world-mega tour...

They are all old has-beens and and are now wanna-be's, again. I have seen interviews with all of them and I am not impressed. None of them have the moral character and talent of Celine. How many times has Cher been divorced now? Cher was at her best with Sonny, and it's been downhill (not a pun) ever since.

 

I wonder if Ceasar's did a focus group on this. I can't imaging a long run with this venue.

 

After Celine, there won't be any reason to ever return to Vegas. The end of an era! Can you imagine emptiness you would feel being in Vegas knowing Celine was no longer there? shutter!

I could kind of see how someone like Cher may be able to attract alot of people at that theatre, although she and the Rolling Stones must be competing for the longest "It's our final tour" contest since they've been both saying that for decades. Caesars may be trying to make sure that they have multiple artists available just to make sure they can sell most or all of the four thousand seats each night which is not easy to do, especially when Celine leaves. It would be nice if Celine came back there for somes more shows, even if it's years from now. I'm sure she would have an open invitation.

I will second that!! I can't wait to go see her!

 

 

...and Cher has only claimed that her Farewell Tour was her farewell tour (hence the name) She said she wont tour anymore, but she'll perform, she's not leaving show business. She will definitely bring in crowds, she had to keep extending her farewell tour, it lasted for 3 years!

I know exactly what you mean. She's barely missing my 21st birthday..I wish I could have spent it in Vegas with a Celine show! But, yeah, I'll have no reason to ever want to go back there.

 

As for Cher....she seems to be a very nice person. And has TONS of fans. She is also an Academy Award winning actress and has proven her point...so it's sad that some of you try to belittle her talent. Also, Cher openly loves Celine Dion and thinks she has one of the greatest voices of all time and will probably comment on that during her own shows......and Bette seems to like Celine as well. So, I for one, am happy that it's these people who will be coming in after Celine....
