Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum (its great btw).

 

Thought it would be funny to add this pic. This is what happened to my photos everytime I'd spot her coming over to where I was standing. had to drop the camera really quickly so I could scream my head off.

 

I attended Celine's concet in Port Eizabeth on the 27th of February and it was phenomenal. This a review I wrote. Hope you like it.

 

 

 

Celine Dion, pure magic.

 

Celine Dion, live in Port Elizabeth, an improbable and incredible dream for all fans. A dream that became a reality on the 27th of February 2008.

 

For all fans of Celine the possibility of seeing this luminary perform live, was a fantasy dreamed about for years and years. It was announced early last year that Celine would be kicking off her world tour in South Africa, then, the magic words, she would be visiting Port Elizabeth. The announcement came over the radio; I froze, and wondered if I was imagining it, did I just hear what I think I heard? Celine, in PE? No, impossible. Incredibly, it was the truth. The tickets went on sale and my VIP Golden Circle, seated date with destiny was booked on the 6th of May 2007.

 

This was the first time that PE hosted a superstar of Celine’s caliber and for it all to be memorable, the entire experience of going to such a ‘concert’ had to be lived. The entire day I had one single repetitive thought in my mind: Don’t forget the ticket at home. The gates were to open a six ‘o clock. People had been lining up outside the gate from early hours. I arrived at three and by half past three, progressed five steps. The huge crowd, all Celine fans, was jovial and inquisitive; with hundreds of question flying around: Is she at the stadium already? What will she sing? What will she wear? How long have you been a fan? What is your favourite Celine song? The excitement in the air was palpable. After about an hour and a half a motorcade entered the ground; instinctively everyone knew it was Celine. Everyone started cheering, applauding, and yelling for Celine. It must’ve worked because a split second later a waving hand appeared from the car, sending the crowd into frenzied approval. We had just seen Celine’s hand!

 

The closer the queue got to the gate, the more excited the fans grew; the colourful crowd could feel the anticipation being amplified with each step. Once inside the stadium, we found our seats. Sitting down in my seat I tried to take in everything in sight; from the insane amount of speakers to the enormous screens on either side of the stage. The stadium filled up quickly. Realizing the impossible task of trying to spot a friend only occurs to you when you see the hoards of people streaming in from the entrances. Sitting in my seat I went through ‘the list’; when she sings Because you loved me, call this person; when she sings River deep, mountain high, call that person; don’t forget to breath. Because as you sit there you can’t help being overwhelmed.

 

As the music started, people were on their feet. She appeared. The crowd went berserk, me included. My first exact thought was: Oh my gosh, that’s Celine Dion, right in front of me. It might have been a good idea to inform the people around me that I was going to be singing as loud as I possibly could followed by an obscene amount of screaming. But hey, I was in the moment. Every now and again you could hear the crowd singing: I drove all night, to get to you. The “How are you doing Port Elizabeth?” by Celine received a stupendously deafening roar, confirming to Celine that PE was on top of the world. An electrifying presence on stage, Celine is perfect.

 

 

 

The incredible sound of The Power Of Love fills the air and as she starts to deliver this song, you can’t help but think how surreal this moment is; for years and years you have listened and loved this song, and here she is, maybe ten feet from you, dazzling you with that voice. The screen behind her lights up with images from the Taking Chances music video, immediately everyone knows what’s next and the applause intensifies. Each person is showing off their proficiency in all things Celine, singing along to every single song. A short break leaves you just enough time to realize how astonished you are. She returns with It’s All Coming Back To Me Now which leads in to long-time favourite, Because You Loved Me where she lets us sing the last line.

 

With every song that follows the previous one, I find myself exclaiming: Yes, I love this song! If I was ever to have one favourite song, it would be All By Myself. The reason for this is because of one particular note in the song that is just vintage Celine Dion. It is unimaginable to be sitting down at this concert and before you realize it you find yourself standing on a chair, belting out The Show Must Go On accompanied by a mimic of Celine’s fist pumping action. River deep, mountain high has you clapping and singing and dancing as loud and as hard as you can muster. The last song of night, My Heart Will Go On, has you mesmerized and staring with your mouth agape, because certainly you have never heard anything like this in your life and you never will.

 

Although all the fans already know the class of Celine, seeing her live is indescribable. She really sings the songs with her trademark passion, giving a hundred and fifty percent the entire time. What's more evident is her sincerity, constantly showing how much she appreciates the praise from PE. There was an estimated 22,000 fans present, every single one of whom was trying to get her attention. She waves to someone in the crowd and everyone waves back. When she makes her way over to where you are, you best be ready to scream your head off while vigorously waving at her. To achieve the feat of having 22,000 people in the palm of your hand takes a special person and Celine encompasses you effortlessly. This was an experience for which there are no adequate words. Perfection, unforgettable, mesmerizing, breathtaking, awe-inspiring, pure magic….

Hey to everyone who was at the PE concert:

 

Do you guys have any photos/bootlegs/mp3 that you can share. I did manage to take some pics, but I was so overwhelmed that I couldnt think of anything else. I would really like to remember this experience forever. Hope you can help me out.

I took some videos, they came out really crappy though. But you can still sort of hear her singing the songs and if you look hard enough you will see her on stage. Because of the lighting though, you can barely see anything. Still it's good to have
