It’s sad that for her own documentary Celine couldn’t be convinced to hit the studio for one new song, yet for Love Again, we know she recorded that song while in the midst of her illness. This is the more personal project that should receive more respect from Celine and the entire team.

I have 0 expectations from Celine considering her condition. However, TeamCeline is another story. They could:

• Release some unreleased material alongside some of her greatest hits. Maybe 1 unreleased song from each major era of her career.
  
• Release the same hits but with brand new arrangements. Yes, I know, far from ideal but it would at least be SOMETHING!
  
• Release remix versions of old hits through collaboration with DJs. 'Set my heart on fire' is currently responsible for almost 10% of her daily Spotify streams!
  
• Release at least one new song to commemorate the documentary so that when we look back at it, we will have a specific song in our minds.

This is clearly a wasted opportunity. They are trying to milk a dead cow at this point. And we need to publicly say that this is not alright.

I agree. I don’t expect such from Celine to record but she was up to it for LAgain…. Clearly Sony lost the key to the vault and are refusing to open the **b I t c h

One last thing I want to say is that TeamCeline needs to understand that we are a traumatised fan base.

We have been through a lot. The past 10 years of being a Celine fan has been an emotional rollercoaster. We have dealt with loss, postponemts, agony over Celine's health. Many of us have cried in silence as we are deeply rooting for Celine. This has almost been like an identify shift - we went from being active fans consuming her music in various forms (albums, concerts, appearances) to being passive, almost paralysed, waiting for a health update, for some good news, for some light at the end of the tunnel.

I think there is an open wound and such releases only add salt to it. There is no empathy and therefore no respect for the average fan. This is all about them getting some cash in without putting any effort. That's all unacceptable. And considering the above-mentioned context, it is also disrespectful.

Well said - and her label is s***.  Zero respect for the fan base.  I’m afraid unless the artist noticed our plight though , we’re screwed.

I agree with you 100% however, SPS or not, Celine is now the leader at the helm. Rene would’ve never signed off on yet another album like this only a year after LOVE again. SONY is to blame, but let’s not all be naive and not think that if Celine just picked up the phone and called her reps at Sony and told them that “ I want something new for the fans” that they wouldn’t have listened. They would have. So Celine is to blame too. Lack of proper management is to blame too.

If Celine is able to be looking awesome dancing the night away to The Rolling Stones concert, she’s healthy enough to call the idiotic label of hers and make a call.

I don’t think Celine knows how things work in this industry. Yes, she is a veteran, but Rene pretty much controlled everything in her career. He would pursue opportunities and then present her with done options.

She probably doesn’t divide her audience between fans and general and, based on her latest results in charts and sells, she believes we all only care about her old hits. Maybe lets focus on Redi Hasa, the score composer and cello player. He released a Nirvana cover album in 2022 in a classy soundtrack  style (it's on spotify) and he has been a collaborator of Ludovico Eunaidi so... If we have 7 re arrangements of Celine classics in a soundtrack way.... I'm much more than happy... (It's something I missed in Love Again)

Also, dreaming here, I still have a little hopes with the documentary sound editing. Maybe if they have edited a little bit the original songs, thats what we have in the soundtrack... and maybe maybe some of them are recording sessions or rehearsals... do you remember the videos  with Goldman rehearsing in a big room in a very relaxing and acoustic way... if we have that audio in quality in my spotify I will also be very happy... But dreaming here about what would I do... I have checked some songs length and they are the same  as the originals

Céline performed these songs on her last tours. They could at least have put unreleased live versions like the acoustic version of Pour que tu m’aimes encore and so on… what a shame, what a waste. This is insane.

Unless they gave her hits new arrangements by Redi I don't see how her songs blend in with his.
I'm afraid it will be absolutely not coherent at all.

They also just could have created a Spotify/Apple Music/Deezer-playlist with songs used in the documentary and let the cello player release his own EP with the instrumental score.

I’m all for boycotting this release but if it doesn’t sell, Sony could easily go down the route of releasing nothing for Celine. In their eyes, new material doesn’t do well (LA - we know it was lack of promo, do they know that?). If new material doesn’t sell then this album of old songs doesn’t sell, will Sony really rethink the approach? I’m inclined to say no. They don’t put any thought into Celine so why would they start now.

This is such a missed opportunity. In the documentary they could have elaborated on her past experiences, the event with Phil Spector, and her trauma after working with him. That  would’ve been highly interesting, so much more interesting than all this same stuff that we have heard for years. And then they could have finally included the unreleased Spector songs on the soundtrack and release them for the world to hear. I mean, why not? This could have been huge. And let me tell you something. They should hurry up and give us those things while we are still interested, because she’s approaching her 60s and I highly doubt that people will still be interested in Celines career when she will be 70 or 80.

They simply don't care. It's just a catalogue release. It will be managed by Legacy Recordings, not even Sony Music Masterworks (the soundtrack branch of Sony Music).

Yes. If I’m not mistaken, Legacy Recordings is the part of Sony that manages re-releases, special re-editions of already existing albums and that kind of stuff.

What I find surprising is that this upcoming release isn’t even considered as a soundtrack by the record company itself. I don’t know, it’s all completely pointless.

It’s basically a re release/ soundtrack…. Maybe if it included at least one “new” song it would’ve been considered a soundtrack.
